A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT Kettering University develops competent and confident professionals who can innovate and provide effective leadership in a global economy. The success of our alumni indicates that Kettering is accomplishing this mission. Many of our alumni are found in the executive and engineering ranks of a wide range of U.S. and international corporations. Other alumni are attorneys, accountants, consultants, or entrepreneurs. The prime reason for the success of our graduates is Kettering’s unique system of cooperative education in which students alternate terms of classroom and lab work with terms of challenging on-the-job experience with one of our 600 corporate partners. Our students bring their working knowledge to the classroom and take their classroom learning to the job. Therefore Kettering students are motivated, focused and prepared to move into the “real world” with practical experience and first-hand knowledge of how business operates. Our students graduate with a “jump start” on their careers, and the co-op wages our students earn can help pay the cost of their education. Members of the Kettering faculty stay connected with industry and are dedicated to teaching excellence. Small classes encourage student/ faculty interaction. Kettering emphasizes “hands-on” education, so lab work is a vital part of a Kettering education. Our graduates are sought after by business and industry, and a large majority of them accept well-paying jobs with their co-op employers. The rest go directly on to graduate school, pursuing advanced degrees at some of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the United States. With strong corporate support Kettering’s laboratory and computer facilities, so important for our co-op system of education, are continually upgraded to be equivalent to those available to our students in their co-op jobs. This catalog contains descriptions of Kettering’s academic programs and admission requirements, information about campus life, course descriptions, and the names and contact information of many of the faculty and staff in the Kettering community who are available to assist you.
