Electrical & Computer Engineering / 57 Modern computer technology is introduced through both high-level and assembly language programming courses, electronics and digital system design courses, and several computer science courses. A strong laboratory experience accompanies most lecture courses to enhance students' abilities to apply technology effectively. Microprocessor technology and its application is the primary focus of the program. The Microcomputers I and II courses provide hands-on experience with 8-bit and 32-bit processors. The Real-Time Embedded Computers course takes students through the design, implementation, and documentation of a real-time operating system and its application to a product design. The Senior CE Design Project gives students experience working in a team environment to complete a large engineering project. In addition to the co-op work experience, students participate in on-campus professional activities. Membership and participation in professional society activities is encouraged. Students should plan to take the Fundamentals of Engineering exam before graduation in order to complete the first step toward professional licensing.
