Tavada, Director Room 3-300 CC, 810-762-9825 dtavada@kettering.edu MISSION STATEMENT To provide leadership, supportive services, implementing, facilitating, and promoting policies and procedures that positively impact the Kettering community and increase the number of underrepresented minority students with engineering degrees. The overall goal of this office is to: • Ensure that students of color are fully prepared to successfully matriculate within the Kettering University curriculum and environment. • Provide academic support services for students that will ensure their retention and graduation. • Increase the pool of students of color qualified to pursue math, science, management or engineering degrees by providing quality pre-college programs. • Work with administrators, staff and faculty to create an environment which reflects the diversity of our society. • Initiate and implement special activities and events geared toward creating positive self-imaging and professional development skills for students of color. Services provided directly by this office: • Pre-college Programs • Scholarships • Tutoring • Academic Advising • Recruitment • Personal Counseling • Academic Excellence Workshops • Financial Counseling • Mentoring • Career Counseling AIM Program Kettering University’s Academic Interested Minorities (AIM) Program has completed its twentieth year. The six-week program begins in July and ends in August. The AIM program is designed to augment Kettering University’s efforts to reach a greater number of minority students who qualify to attend the University. It serves as an exploratory experience and as a motivational mechanism for minorities to pursue careers in engineering, math, science, or management through higher education. Participation in this program will help minority students improve and develop the academic skills needed in an engineering, science or mathematics program of higher education with technically oriented courses. Kettering University and its sponsoring corporations provide support to cover the cost of tuition, room, board, books, supplies, and miscellaneous expenses.

Kettering University Welcomes International Visitors • Full time, degree-seeking, undergraduate and graduate students • Short term (three months) undergraduate exchange students • Visiting professors and other university representatives • Corporate employer representatives • U.S. Government sponsored business associates from developing economies The International Office is the receptionist and facilitator for international students, professors, and other visitors who visit Kettering University from throughout the world. It provides assistance with course availability, visas, immigration regulations, driver’s license, insurance, bank accounts, housing and other settlement concerns. Program Abroad The International Office organizes and facilitates academic and corporation related programs in other countries for students, faculty members and corporate partners. These include institutional collaborations, employer/institutional networking, consortia development, distance learning programs to developing economies and short-term Flint-based training for entrepreneurs in evolving economies. Language Instruction Non-credit conversational language courses are provided for Kettering students planning to go abroad for academic and/or work related activities. Governmental Activities Kettering University plays a leadership role in community development, particularly in its own neighborhood as well as the Greater Flint Community. The University is deeply committed to the social, economic and political well being of its community.
