THE ZELPHA MCKINNON WELLNESS CENTER Student Affairs & Campus Life / 41 In order to promote maintenance of successful health, the counseling service and health center have established the Zelpha McKinnon Wellness Center. The Wellness Center's primary focus is on the three dimensions of the Wellness concept: physical, emotional, and social. Services and Programs include: • Primary Health Care Services • Disability Services • Health Screening • Support Groups • Mental Health Assessment & Treatment • News Bulletin • Alcohol Prevention Program • Resource Library • Guest Speakers & Workshops Health Services McLaren Regional Medical Center staffs and operates <strong>Kettering</strong> <strong>University</strong>’s Health Center. This unique arrangement has resulted in <strong>Kettering</strong> having one of the most creative and dynamic health services operations for students available anywhere. The Center is staffed with a licensed physician, a LPN, and two medical assistants. The Health Center provides the following services to <strong>Kettering</strong> <strong>University</strong> students: primary emergency care, minor surgical procedures, health assessments, allergy injections, blood pressure testing, specialized referrals, general medical care, first aid, nutrition advice, OB/GYN clinic, health screening, diet counseling, exercise advice, as well as many other services. Students are required to have medical insurance coverage. An insurance plan is available through <strong>Kettering</strong>. Information on this plan may be obtained through the Wellness Center or the Risk Management Office. In case of an emergency, Campus Safety is available to provide assistance and transportation to McLaren Regional Medical Center or Hurley Medical Center. For all on-campus emergencies call 5555. <strong>Kettering</strong> <strong>University</strong> is not responsible for health care costs incurred by its students for treatment outside of <strong>Kettering</strong>’s Wellness Center. For further information about Health Services, see the Student Handbook. Counseling Services Counseling Services is staffed with two licensed therapists and graduate interns. They are available to assist students in their growth and development as individuals. The staff provides a variety of services to address the personal, social, academic, and career concerns of students. Some of these services include: • Personal Counseling • Couple Counseling • Consultation • Counseling for test anxiety and stress management • Workshop presentations on a variety of topics: assertiveness, dual-career relationships, group dynamics, sexual harassment, and many others For further information about our counseling services, please stop by the Wellness Center located on the first floor of the Campus Center 810-762-9650. Disability Services It is the policy of <strong>Kettering</strong> <strong>University</strong> to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and state and local requirements regarding students, employees and applicants with disabilities. Under these laws, no qualified individual with a disability shall be denied access to or participation in services, programs and activities at <strong>Kettering</strong> <strong>University</strong>. The Wellness Center will then make recommendations for the appropriate services and accommodations necessary to meet the legal requirements set forth by the ADA. These recommendations will be provided to staff and faculty who may be responsible for providing the recommended services and/or accommodations. Students in the admission process should contact the Wellness Center to discuss the appropriate documentation needed to verify a disability and the type of services, accommodations and/or adaptive equipment that may be needed.

STUDENT CONDUCT Student Responsibility In accepting admission to <strong>Kettering</strong>, students agree to accept the standard of personal conduct which <strong>Kettering</strong> <strong>University</strong> considers fundamental to fostering a productive learning community. Rules and regulations governing student conduct and conditions for dismissal for unsatisfactory conduct are found in the Student Handbook, which is made available to all students. Disciplinary Probation or Dismissal The <strong>University</strong> expects students to conduct themselves responsibly. Any student who violates good conduct or good taste may be warned, placed on probation, or in serious cases, dismissed from the <strong>University</strong>.
