Students have the option to notify<br />

appropriate law enforcement authorities,<br />

including the KSU DPS <strong>and</strong> the appropriate<br />

local police agency, depending on where the<br />

assault occurred, <strong>and</strong> <strong>University</strong> personnel<br />

(Counseling <strong>and</strong> Psychological Services <strong>and</strong><br />

Residence Life professional staff) will assist<br />

the student in notifying these authorities, if<br />

the student requests assistance.<br />

KSU has appointed Deidra Dennie as the<br />

Equal Employment Opportunity <strong>and</strong> Title IX<br />

coordinator. Students are encouraged to also<br />

report sexual misconduct, including sexual<br />

assault, to her at ddennie@kennesaw.edu or<br />

by phone at 678-797-2904.<br />

Remember that most rapists are repeat<br />

offenders. Reporting the incident to the police<br />

may prevent an attack on another person.<br />

2. Get medical attention. It is important to get<br />

medical attention – as soon as possible after<br />

the assault – from a hospital emergency<br />

room, private physician or the KSU Health<br />

Clinic.<br />

Treatment may include testing for sexually<br />

transmitted diseases <strong>and</strong>/or medication to<br />

prevent pregnancy. Documenting evidence<br />

of the sexual assault for use in legal<br />

proceedings is also part of the procedure.<br />

KSU students who report an incident<br />

of sexual assault to the KSU DPS or the<br />

other law enforcement agencies may<br />

be transported <strong>and</strong> accompanied to the<br />

appropriate community-based hospital for
