Frugal and Fabulous: Live Richly
& Save a Fortune
Frugality is often associated with drudgery,
but it doesn't have to be that way. What if
being frugal made you feel like a million
bucks? You'd live a rich and happy life--while
saving more money than you ever imagined!
Whether voluntary or mandatory, the way
you approach frugality is a choice. If you're
frustrated with your finances, drowning in
debt, or just wondering where your money
goes each month, don't despair. For in this
workshop lies the secret to financial peace
and harmony. Like everything else, living
frugally can be as individual as you are.
Trade-offs abound! Learn from a certified
family life educator to be frugal in areas that
are less meaningful to you to increase your
choices in the areas where you want to live
more abundantly. You can master the art of
living richly while saving a fortune and we're
here to show you how.
PERSONAL & SELF DEVELOPMENT
Michigan Wine Country Tour
October is harvest time for the wineries in Michigan. In this new class you’ll travel
by motor coach to three wineries and have a chance to tour and taste at each of them.
On the way, Cecil Robbins, certified sommelier, will share his knowledge of wine and
information about the wineries in Michigan and why vintners prefer the Southwest
Michigan climate.
We’ll begin with Tabor Hill Winery, nestled in the rolling hills of Buchanan, where
you’ll have a chance to stroll through the vineyard and taste a variety of wines made in
this mid-sized winery. Tabor Hill Winery has been voted “Best of the Region” by the
readers of Shore Magazine. You can be one of the first to try the 2010 vintage!
Our next stop is the small Hickory Creek Winery. You may have tried a sip or two of
these wines at the Binder Park Zoo’s Corks for Conservation event. Hickory Creek has
been crafting world class wines since August 2006. One of Michigan’s smallest wineries,
the grapes for their wines are grown exclusively off Lake Michigan’s eastern shore.
Following this tour we’ll stop at a local favorite eatery for a light lunch.
No wine tour would be complete without a stop at Michigan’s most famous winery, St.
Julian Winery. For over 90 years, award-winning products have been made at the Paw
Paw location. Experience a tour and a taste in the place where family tradition and
science meet to create the fine wines of St. Julian Winery.
Travel Details: We’ll meet at the RMTC parking lot on Saturday, October 8th, between
8:30-8:45 am and the motor coach will depart promptly at 9 am. We’ll return to the RMTC
parking lot at approximately 4:15-4:30 pm. You must be at least 21 years of age to participate.
Registration must be received by September 22, 2011, to guarantee a seat; all registrations after
that date will be made on a space-available basis. NOTE: Contact
Do you enjoy walking or hiking outdoors,
but are unsure of where to go locally? Do
Self Defense: Be Ready for
Anything!
Did you know that confidence, common
sense and a little education are the best
tools to have in your "self defense tool kit?"
Anyone can be the target of an attack, but not
everyone has to become a victim. This class
approaches everyday life with the common
sense tools that not only help you out daily
but can also be utilized in a self defense
situation. It will help build confidence, one
of the first steps to successful avoidance
of being targeted as a victim, and it will
give you some new knowledge that can add
that little extra surprise should a situation
escalate beyond the avoidance stage. Both
men and women want to be safe! Likewise,
both men and women want to help their
boyfriends, girlfriends, husbands, wives,
Michigan Wine Country Tour
October is harvest time for the wineries in
Michigan. In this new class you’ll travel by
motor coach to three wineries and have a
chance to tour and taste at each of them. On
the way, Cecil Robbins, certified sommelier,
will share his knowledge of wine information
about the wineries in Michigan and why vintners
prefer the Southwest Michigan climate.
We’ll begin with Tabor Hill Winery, nestled
in the rolling hills of Buchanan, where you’ll
have a chance to stroll through the vineyard
and taste a variety of wines made in this midsized
winery. Tabor Hill Winery has been
voted “Best of the Region” by the readers of
Shore Magazine. You can be one of the first
to try the 2010 vintage! Our next stop is the
small Hickory Creek Winery. You may have
tried a sip or two of these wines at the Binder
Park Zoo’s Corks for Conservation event.
Hickory Creek has been crafting world class
wines since August 2006. One of Michigan’s
smallest wineries, the grapes for their wines
are grown exclusively off Lake Michigan’s
eastern shore. Following this tour we’ll stop
at a local favorite eatery for a light lunch. No
wine tour would be complete without a stop
at Michigan’s most famous winery, St. Julian
Winery. For over 90 years, award-winning
products have been made at the Paw Paw
location. Experience a tour and a taste in the
place where family tradition and science meet
to create the fine wines of St. Julian Winery.
Travel Details: We’ll meet at the RMTC parking
lot on Saturday, October 8th, between
8:30-8:45 am and the motor coach will depart
promptly at 9 am. We’ll return to the RMTC
parking lot at approximately 4:15-4:30 pm.
You must be at least 21 years of age to
Estate Planning & Trusts: What
You Need to Know
Most people don't like to think about dying,
www.kellogg.edu/lifelong
but it is something that everyone has to face.
What will happen to the money you worked
hard to save? Who will get your house?
Although not a pleasant subject, these are
things that should be decided now. Most
people put off planning their estate, but
putting off these decisions can cost your
heirs considerable money and anguish. In
order to ensure that your wishes about who
should get what are heeded and that costs
and inconveniences of probate and estate
taxes are avoided after your death, it is critical
to do estate planning now. This workshop
will help you understand the types of estate
planning moves that are most likely to be
helpful for many people. Proper estate planning
takes a relatively short time, but will
give you and your heirs tremendous peace
of mind. With estate planning, you can make
sure your medical and business decisions can
be made by someone you trust if incapacity
strikes—without court interference and with
as little disruption as possible to your loved
ones. Join Susan McCabe, JD, as you learn the
Baby Signs – Talk to Your Baby
Before Your Baby Can Talk!
Babies have a lot to say, even before they can
actually speak. Baby Signs are simple gestures
that allow babies and toddlers to communicate
what they see, what they need, and
even how they feel. Research has shown that
using Baby Signs decreases frustration and
tantrums and helps your baby talk sooner.
Learn how you can teach your family a new
way to communicate for increased understanding
and improved relationships. Your
class fee includes a textbook that will help
you take home what you learn in class.
