whom he married in 1951 tells us that after retirement he took<br />
on a number <strong>of</strong> charitable roles including Church Warden at<br />
Dinton, the local British Legion and regular visits to a local<br />
hospice as well as taking a great deal <strong>of</strong> pleasure in getting<br />
to know his seven grandchildren. He is survived by his wife<br />
Rosemary and their children John, Philippa and Michael.<br />

died on 16 July <strong>2009</strong> aged 72. Educated at the Licensed<br />
Victualler’s School, Slough he was commissioned into the Royal<br />
Artillery for his National Service (1955–7). He came up to <strong>Keble</strong><br />
to read Geography, rowed for the <strong>College</strong> 1 st VIII (1958–9)<br />
and was President <strong>of</strong> the VIII Club (1959–60). He joined the<br />
Shell-Mex and BP Group in London (1960–1) and then carried<br />
out market research with A C Nielson and Company in <strong>Oxford</strong><br />
(1961–4). He was Market Research Manager for Alfred Bird<br />
in Banbury which became General Foods Ltd (1964–80).<br />
He left to set up his own market research company Wyman<br />
Harris Ltd in Cheltenham. He retired (1995) but set up an<br />
Investment/Property company. He was a Conservative County<br />
Councillor for Gloucestershire (2001–5). He died from cancer<br />
and leaves a wife Freda, sons Jonathan and Timothy and seven<br />
grandchildren Alexander, Artur, Margot, Pénélope, Archie,<br />
Hector and Jago.<br />

School and came up to <strong>Keble</strong> to read History. After National<br />
Service in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers he<br />
worked for the Festival <strong>of</strong> Britain in London. He became a<br />
timber broker (1952–60) and then a bookseller. He ran his own<br />
bookshop in Warwick (1963–96). He died after a long struggle<br />
with Parkinson’s disease and leaves a wife Gillian, daughter<br />
Catherine, sons Nicholas and Charles and grandchildren.<br />

Grammar School he came up to <strong>Keble</strong> to read History and was<br />
President <strong>of</strong> Tenmantale (1940). He went to Wells <strong>The</strong>ological<br />
<strong>College</strong> and was ordained Deacon (1942) and Priest (1943). He<br />
was Curate <strong>of</strong> Honiton (1942–5), St Mark, Exeter (1944–7), St<br />
Thomas, Exeter (1947–8) and Painton (being in charge <strong>of</strong> St<br />
Michael, 1951–5). He was appointed Vicar <strong>of</strong> St Luke, Countess<br />
Wear where he remained until he retired (1955–87). Later<br />
(1992) he was given permission to <strong>of</strong>ficiate in the Diocese <strong>of</strong><br />
Exeter. He is survived by his wife Barbara.<br />

County School for Boys and was called up for the Army<br />
(1944–7). He served as a Staff Sergeant in the Royal Electrical<br />
