died on 28 October 2007 aged 65. He was educated at the Royal<br />
Grammar School, Lancaster and came up to <strong>Keble</strong> to read<br />
Geography. He was a member <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Oxford</strong> <strong>The</strong>atre Group<br />
and then <strong>The</strong>atre Studies in London before joining the London<br />
County Council in its dying months (1964–5). In the newly<br />
formed Borough <strong>of</strong> Camden covering Hampstead, Holborn<br />
and St Pancras he led a team responsible for Hampstead<br />
Environmental Improvement and Development Control<br />
(1965–72). He moved to the Department <strong>of</strong> the Environment<br />
where he was responsible for Conservation Grants, vetting and<br />
negotiating local authority proposals for environmental works<br />
and building restoration in conservation areas throughout<br />
England and reporting to the Historic Buildings Council. He<br />
was invited by the Chief Planner at Bath (his old chief at the<br />
DoE) to join him to run Development Control. After four years<br />
in Bath he moved to the Borough <strong>of</strong> Swindon, a town with very<br />
different challenges. He became a Senior Housing and Planning<br />
Inspector with the Planning Inspectorate (1988). He ran several<br />
large Local Plan Inquiries in the Yorkshire Dales National Park,<br />
Swansea, the Gower and Newham. He took partial retirement<br />
(2002) having been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. He<br />
ran the Devizes Film Club and returned to piano lessons, which<br />
gave him great pleasure, until the week before his death. He<br />
was pre-deceased by his daughter Emily (2005) but leaves a wife<br />
Una, son Francis and daughter Rosemary.<br />
died on 21 August 2008 aged 77. Educated at Taunton School<br />
he came up to <strong>Keble</strong> after National Service as a History Scholar,<br />
played rugby (1950–3) and lawn tennis (1952) for the <strong>College</strong>.<br />
He spent a year at Sydney Sussex <strong>College</strong>, Cambridge and then<br />
joined the Colonial Service as a District Officer in Northern<br />
Rhodesia (1954–60). He returned to the UK and worked for<br />
Marks and Spencer (1961–2). He was General Manager <strong>of</strong> Tall<br />
Girls Ltd and then became a Management Consultant (1966–<br />
91). His son John writes that his father remembered his days at<br />
<strong>Keble</strong> with great fondness. He is survived by his wife Julie, sons<br />
Richard and John, daughter Anna and eight grandchildren.<br />
died on 16 February <strong>2009</strong> aged 23. He was educated at<br />
Devonport High School for Boys, Plymouth and came up<br />
to <strong>Keble</strong> to read Engineering Science. His mother wrote the<br />
following for <strong>The</strong> <strong>Record</strong>. ‘He was the son <strong>of</strong> an English teacher<br />
and a GP. His younger sister Fiona, his grandmother, his aunt,<br />
indeed the whole family are devastated by this incredible loss.<br />
Paul hanged himself with a Laser mainsheet. He had been a<br />
loving enthusiastic energetic and popular young man, with a<br />
very enquiring sharp mind and a wonderful sense <strong>of</strong> humour.<br />
