1978 David Jackman is launching a ‘Twenty-first Century Charter’ at the House <strong>of</strong><br />
Commons on 13 October <strong>2009</strong>.<br />
Michael Roe is pleased to announce a new position in the Rail Industry as<br />
Engineering Director — Traction & Rolling Stock at Unipart Rail Limited, located<br />
in Doncaster. He will be leading the company’s engineering strategy including new<br />
product development for rail vehicles.<br />
1979 Hugh Corder writes: ‘<strong>The</strong> major development recently has been the birth <strong>of</strong> our fifth<br />
child, Lauren Rachel, on 20 October 2007. I will be finishing my second five-year term<br />
as Dean <strong>of</strong> the Faculty <strong>of</strong> Law at the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Cape Town in December, after<br />
which I will be on sabbatical leave for <strong>2009</strong>.’<br />
1981 John Caperon, former head <strong>of</strong> the Bennett Memorial Diocesan School, Kent, has<br />
now been Director <strong>of</strong> the Bloxham Project for the past three years. <strong>The</strong> next two<br />
years see the Bloxham Project undertaking a national study <strong>of</strong> school chaplaincy in<br />
C <strong>of</strong> E-related schools: the first attempt to map and describe school chaplaincy and<br />
to identify what makes for good practice. Any <strong>Keble</strong> alumni or students who have<br />
significant experience <strong>of</strong> the impact <strong>of</strong> the work <strong>of</strong> school chaplains, and would be<br />

Douglas Hedley has been appointed Reader in Hermeneutics and Metaphysics at the<br />
<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Cambridge.<br />
1982 Jeremy Filsell has moved to the USA to become Principal Organist at the Basilica <strong>of</strong><br />
the National Shrine <strong>of</strong> the Immaculate Conception, in Washington, America’s flagship<br />
Catholic church and the 8th largest in the world. In 2007, he was awarded a PhD by<br />
Birmingham City <strong>University</strong> for his thesis on Aesthetic and Interpretative issues in the Organ<br />

Catherine Wastie (Gamble) writes: ‘I left the city some time ago, now happily<br />
resurrecting an olive grove in the south <strong>of</strong> France. Mucky fingernails! Glad I studied<br />
French at <strong>Oxford</strong>. ‘<br />
1983 Peter Holden has been promoted to the rank <strong>of</strong> Chief Superintendent with the British<br />
Transport Police in October 2008, occupying the role <strong>of</strong> Area Commander for the<br />
Force’s North Western Area.<br />
1985 Vera McEwan was appointed Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Family Law, Institute <strong>of</strong> Law, Jersey,<br />
Channel Islands in January <strong>2009</strong>.<br />
Ge<strong>of</strong>f Sheard with co-author, Andrew Kakabadse, published his first book, Leadership<br />
Teams: Developing and Sustaining High Performance by Palgrave Macmillan in September<br />
<strong>2009</strong>. He has been elected a visiting fellow <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Northampton,<br />
specializing in leadership and team development; has also been elected to the Board<br />
<strong>of</strong> the Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA) and has joined the Aston<br />
<strong>University</strong> Industry Advisory Board for the School <strong>of</strong> Engineering and Applied<br />
Science to develop schools strengths in research, teaching and contributions to the<br />
broader community.<br />
1986 Niels de Vos has been made CEO <strong>of</strong> UK Athletics.<br />
Fiona Garrett Ryan (King) and Daniel, a son Arthur Jerome Marcus, born 20 April<br />
<strong>2009</strong>, a little brother for Darcey<br />
Hilary Stock currently lives at Glebe Farm, Acton Scott, which was featured on BBC<br />
