The Talbot Fund is a good opportunity to be a part of Keble's future as
well its past, a small part of a large communal effort to ensure that
future students can enjoy the unique experience of life at Keble.
Introduction to the Talbot Fund
Why Keble needs your help this year
The Talbot Fund is vital in funding current needs and strengthening the
key characteristic of an Oxford education, the tutorial. Over the last
seven years the Fund has raised over £3million to support students at
Keble. We are extremely grateful to everyone who has contributed
during this time. In the past year alone, donors have helped to provide
bursaries for 101 students, enabled a myriad of student societies and
sports teams to flourish, transformed the appearance of the Hall and
completely refurbished 19 Butterfield student rooms overlooking
Liddon Quad. Old Members and Friends have already raised £500k
towards the new organ for the Chapel and we very much hope to raise
the outstanding £175k to complete this long awaited project in time
for St Mark’s Day in 2011.
Participation is key to our success with one in three Old Members
contributing to date; our aim is for no less than 100%. If you have not
already done so please do make a gift this year. Regular giving is
particularly helpful as it enables us to plan ahead.
We face a shortfall of £1,500 for every undergraduate student each
year and £2,500 for every graduate student. Income from government
sources continues to decline and there are no signs that this will
change in the forseeable future. The Talbot Fund helps us to address
the current imbalance. The Fund benefits all students at Keble and
every penny raised is allocated to the specific project Old Members
choose to support.
Your gift will help us to
preserve the tutorial system
support student bursaries and scholarships
provide funding for drama, music and sport
maintain and restore our architectural heritage
Please give today, and help the College thrive tomorrow.
“
The Keble ethos means that three years there is about more than just being at
Oxford. I would like to think that future generations will have the chance to
enjoy similar opportunities and keep that ethos alive and kicking.
Giving to Keble College
Keble especially welcomes undesignated gifts. These gifts are applied
to the area of greatest need at the discretion of the College. You can
also direct your gift to the following:
Community Projects
The College offers wonderful facilities for the Arts, music and sports. We
wish to enable students to make best use of these facilities during their
time here. Your support will help to ensure funds are available to put on
first-class student drama, enhance our musical provision, and provide
much needed equipment and training for Keble sportsmen and
sportswomen.
Academic Projects
Scholarships and bursaries provide vital support to enable the brightest
and best undergraduate and graduate students to achieve their full
potential, regardless of financial background. In 2008–9, 20% of students
received some form of financial assistance from the College.
Capital Projects
Keble is proud of its distinctive architectural heritage which gives the
College and its community such a strong sense of identity. Following the
successful completion of phases 1 and 2 to restore the Hall ceiling and
floor, the final phase is to bring the walls back to their original state. The
College also hopes to install a new pipe organ in the Chapel in 2011.
“
Keble had a huge impact on me; from finding the things I cared about in life to
meeting friends that I will always cherish. Supporting current students, so that
their experience of college life is as fun and fulfilling as possible, is one
practical way to say ‘thank you’.
