<strong>The</strong> <strong>Chapel</strong> is open each day as a place for prayer. Services in <strong>Chapel</strong> are open to all <strong>College</strong> members<br />

and staff, their guests and friends. Our services are according to those of the Church of England, but all<br />

are welcome to participate in our worship, regardless of tradition or denomination.<br />

WEEKDAYS<br />

Unless indicated on the notice board, all daily services during term are as below.<br />

All evening services finish in time for dinner in Hall.<br />

Compline by Candlelight with <strong>Keble</strong> <strong>College</strong> Choral Scholars at 9.00pm (Thursday)<br />

Holy Eucharist at 6.30pm (Tuesday and Thursday)<br />

Holy Eucharist is also celebrated on all major Holy Days as indicated each week on the <strong>Chapel</strong> notice board.<br />

Student preachers will once again offer homilies at the following Evensongs this term:<br />

SPECIAL SERVICES<br />

St Mark’s Day, Sunday 21 April, 5.30pm<br />

This Evensong commemorates the foundation of the <strong>College</strong> and her benefactors and is the 137 th anniversary of<br />

the opening of the <strong>Chapel</strong>. A festive dinner in Hall follows the service.<br />

Evensong in Eastleach, Wednesday 1 May, 6.30pm<br />

<strong>The</strong> choir will travel to St Andrew’s, Eastleach to offer a service of Evensong. This is one of the parish<br />

churches where John <strong>Keble</strong> served as a curate shortly after his ordination in 1815 and they graciously offer<br />

their hospitality to <strong>Keble</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>Chapel</strong> Choir every year.<br />

Ascension Day, Thursday 9 May, 8.15am and 6.00pm<br />

This important day of the Christian year commemorates the risen Christ’s ascension into heaven and begins<br />

our preparations to celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. <strong>The</strong> choir will sing Morning Prayer from<br />

the roof of the <strong>Chapel</strong> at 8.15am (<strong>Keble</strong>’s own version of<br />

‘May Day’). A sung Eucharist will also be offered in<br />

the <strong>Chapel</strong> at 6.00pm that evening.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Feast of Corpus Christi, Thursday 30 May, 5.45pm with Oriel <strong>College</strong><br />

Join us in <strong>Keble</strong> <strong>Chapel</strong> as <strong>Keble</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>Chapel</strong> Choir and Oriel <strong>Chapel</strong> Choir offer a joint service to<br />

celebrate Corpus Christi and the Sacrament of the Eucharist. Dinner will follow the service. All are welcome!<br />

Open Air Evensong, Wednesday 5 June, 6.00pm<br />

<strong>Keble</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>Chapel</strong> Choir will sing Evensong in Liddon Quad. All are welcome!<br />

Leavers’ Service, Sunday 9 June, 5.30pm<br />

This is the final Sunday service in the <strong>Chapel</strong> for the academic year. Following dinner, the <strong>Chapel</strong> will host a<br />

party to offer our thanks and blessings to all Leavers this year.<br />

Each Sunday the <strong>College</strong> community gathers to celebrate the presence of<br />

Christ in Word and Sacrament. We hear readings from Scripture and a<br />

sermon and receive communion. <strong>Keble</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>Chapel</strong> Choir sings the<br />

setting of the service and an anthem; the congregation joins in hymns and<br />

the psalm. All are welcome. Refreshments are available after the service.<br />
