Ginger Cookies<br />
3/4 cup shortening<br />
1 cup sugar<br />
1 egg<br />
1/4 cup molasses<br />
2 cups flour<br />
1 tsp. ginger<br />
1 tsp. cinnamon<br />
1/2 tsp. nutmeg<br />
2 tsp. soda<br />
1/2 tsp. salt<br />
Mix all ingredients together. Form small balls and place on greased cookie sheet. Do not flatten<br />
balls. Bake at 350° about 10 minutes or until done.<br />

Flan - Cuban Style<br />
1-1/2 cups sugar for caramel<br />
1 can condensed milk<br />
1/2 can evaporated milk<br />
1/2 can water<br />
4 eggs<br />
1 Tbsp. vanilla<br />
1/2 tsp. salt<br />
Use a double boiler. Pour the sugar in a fry pan, and melt to make a caramel. Pour the caramel in<br />
the top pan of the double boiler and let cool. Mix all other ingredients with an electric mixer,<br />
then pour in the top of the boiler with the caramel. Fill the bottom part of the pan with water,<br />
and cook in the oven uncovered at 350° until done (about 2 hours).<br />
