(SSP) SPANISH SPEAKING PROGRAM/ PROGRAMA HISPANO<br />
The Program is designed <strong>for</strong> Spanish-speaking students who are English Language Learners (ELL). During the first two years, students earn<br />
credits towards their degree by taking General Education courses in Spanish while completing the English as a Second Language (ESL) program.<br />
At the end of the second year, or once the ESL sequence is completed, students transition to all-English courses. Students who do not meet the<br />
ESL requirement are not eligible <strong>for</strong> the program. In order to be admitted into the Program the student must have a minimum 2.8 cumulative<br />
GPA at the time of <strong>application</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>admission</strong>. SAT scores are not required. All <strong>for</strong>eign transcripts must be evaluated by a NACES accredited<br />
<strong>for</strong>eign credential evaluation agency. Such agencies/services have no affiliation with <strong>Kean</strong> <strong>University</strong>. A Document-by-Document evaluation is<br />
required that identifies and describes each diploma or certificate, indicates periods of education, and provides an equivalency to a U.S. high<br />
school diploma <strong>for</strong> each document. Cumulative GPA must be included. Please visit www.naces.org <strong>for</strong> a list of agencies.<br />

Applicants 25 years of age or older who have demonstrated the desire and potential to succeed in college, who have been away from <strong>for</strong>mal schooling<br />
<strong>for</strong> five or more years and have no more than 15 college credits may be considered <strong>for</strong> <strong>admission</strong> through this program as part-time students.

An International Applicant is someone who is applying <strong>for</strong> an F-1 student visa to study in the United States or is currently on an F-1or J-1 visa.<br />

Exceptional Educational Opportunities/Educational Opportunity Fund (EEO/EOF) Program:<br />
Admission program code (EEO)<br />
The EEO/EOF Program is an academic support program designed to provide access to higher education <strong>for</strong> New Jersey residents who demonstrate<br />
academic potential and a high level of motivation to achieve a college degree. Support services provided include a mandatory six-week pre<strong>freshman</strong><br />
Summer Academy, writing studio, math lab, specialized counseling, academic advising, academic coaching/tutoring, and career<br />
development in a supportive, intellectually stimulating environment. The program is designed <strong>for</strong> full-time students. The Summer Academy is July<br />
1 st - August 8 th , 2013, Monday - Thursday, during which admitted students may elect to live on campus. The cost of the Summer Academy is paid<br />
<strong>for</strong> by the EOF Grant, covering the cost of tuition <strong>for</strong> up to 9 course credits, student service fees, books, meals and housing <strong>for</strong> students who live on<br />
campus. Students must qualify both academically and financially <strong>for</strong> <strong>admission</strong> into the program. Income/household size verification is required.<br />
STEP 1 – ACADEMIC INFORMATION<br />
• GPA minimum requirement: 2.4<br />
• SAT minimum requirement: 800 (math and verbal only) or ACT composite score of 17<br />
• You must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident<br />
• You must be a resident of New Jersey <strong>for</strong> at least 12 months prior to enrolling in college<br />

under the “Special Admission Program” section by entering the letters “EEO” or “EOF” in the code boxes of the print <strong>application</strong> or<br />
select “EEO/EOF Freshman” as your <strong>application</strong> status on the online <strong>application</strong>.<br />
2. Please submit your official high school transcript, SAT/ACT scores, letters of recommendation, essay and <strong>application</strong> fee to the Central<br />
Data Processing Center.<br />
3. A financial needs analysis is made <strong>for</strong> each completed applicant prior to an <strong>admission</strong>s decision being made.<br />
STEP 2 – HOUSEHOLD SIZE AND INCOME INFORMATION<br />
All EEO/EOF applicants must complete/send the following household size and income<br />
documentation to the Central Data Processing Center:<br />
• 2012 IRS Tax Return Transcript (available <strong>for</strong> free upon request at www.irs.gov or<br />
1-800-908-9946) <strong>for</strong> you and your parents, if 2012 Federal Income Taxes are filed.<br />
• 2012 statements of unemployment, social security, public assistance, food stamps,<br />
housing assistance, child support and pension.<br />
• File your 2012 Free Application <strong>for</strong> Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) after January 1 st but<br />
well be<strong>for</strong>e April 1 st . If Federal taxes are filed, use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool <strong>for</strong> tax<br />
in<strong>for</strong>mation to upload onto the FAFSA. Use the link on the FAFSA confirmation page<br />
to start your State financial aid <strong>application</strong>. Males must register <strong>for</strong> Selective Service<br />
and can select Register Me on the FAFSA.<br />

Financial assistance is offered through the New Jersey Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF). For the 2013-2014 academic year, EOF<br />
grants range from $1,150 to $1,400 per academic year (up to $575 per semester <strong>for</strong> students who do not live on campus or $700 per<br />
semester <strong>for</strong> on-campus residents) and are part of the overall financial aid package, which may consist of federal and state grants,<br />
scholarships, loans, and/or work study.<br />
STEP 3 – ADMISSION DECISION<br />
An <strong>admission</strong>s decision will NOT be made until all financial documentation has been received.<br />
Once you receive an official letter of acceptance from the Office of <strong>Undergraduate</strong> Admissions you MUST:<br />
• Take the required on-campus placement test. In<strong>for</strong>mation about test dates will be mailed to you. After you have taken the<br />
placement test, you will be eligible to register <strong>for</strong> classes. In<strong>for</strong>mation concerning registration will be mailed to you.<br />
• Attend a required Orientation on Sunday, June 30, 2013.<br />
• Attend a six-week mandatory Pre-Freshman Summer Academy from July 1, 2013 to August 8, 2013, Monday-Thursday.<br />

New Jersey Center <strong>for</strong> Science, Technology and Mathematics: Admission program code (STEM)<br />
Freshman applicants eligible to be considered <strong>for</strong> <strong>admission</strong> into NJCSTM programs are those who have demonstrated a high aptitude in<br />
science and mathematics and wish to complete a rigorous course of full-time academic study in order to pursue careers in the following:<br />

EDUCATION TRACK: This five-year program awards a B.S. in Science and Technology and an M.A. in Instruction and Curriculum.<br />
Graduates are scientist-educators with a background rich in the integration of mathematics with the natural and physical sciences,<br />
and earn NJ teacher certification at the secondary level in biology, chemistry or mathematics.<br />

RESEARCH TRACK: This five-year program awards a B.S./M.S. in Science and Technology that prepares researchers <strong>for</strong> careers in<br />
scientific and computational industries. Graduates specialize in biotechnology or applied mathematics. This program integrates<br />
coursework, research externships and extensive laboratory training in molecular and analytical techniques (biotechnology) or<br />
modeling and simulation (computational mathematics).<br />

BIOMEDICINE TRACK: This four-year program awards a B.S. in Science and Technology, preparing graduates to apply to the<br />
professional training school of their choosing (i.e., medical or osteopathic schools, physical therapy or biomedical doctoral programs).<br />

DREXEL TRACK: Students who are accepted at the time of <strong>freshman</strong> <strong>application</strong> to the NJCSTM 4 + 4 linkage program with Drexel<br />
College of Medicine and St. Peter’s <strong>University</strong> Hospital are dually admitted as college freshmen. Upon successful completion of the<br />
bachelor’s degree, meeting all academic requirements, they will enter the medical school class at Drexel College of Medicine.<br />

ENGINEERING TRACK: This linkage program with the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) College of Engineering af<strong>for</strong>ds its<br />
college majors coursework both at <strong>Kean</strong> and NJIT. Students earn the <strong>Kean</strong> <strong>University</strong> BS Science & Technology/Engineering Science<br />
degree, then complete the Master’s in Engineering at NJIT.<br />

<strong>Kean</strong> <strong>University</strong> has a collaborative dual degree program with the<br />
<strong>University</strong> of Medicine and Dentistry in Newark, New Jersey (UMDNJ).<br />
The dual degree program in Physical Therapy is a six-year combined<br />
Bachelor’s and Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. It consists<br />
of undergraduate studies at <strong>Kean</strong> <strong>for</strong> the Bachelor’s degree and<br />
graduate studies at UMDNJ in Newark leading to a Doctor of Physical<br />
