REGISTRATION INFORMATION<br />

NEW STUDENT AND RETURNING STUDENT ENROLLMENT PROCESS<br />

1. Apply for Admissions<br />

All new students, including dual credit students, and<br />

students who have been inactive for one year or<br />

more should complete the Student Admissions Form.<br />

The form is available online at apps.<strong>Kaskaskia</strong>.edu<br />

or at Education Centers and at the Welcome Center<br />

on the main campus. <strong>Kaskaskia</strong> College maintains<br />

an open-door admissions policy that provides<br />

access to higher education for those individuals who<br />

can benefit from its comprehensive programs and<br />

there is no application fee. New students will need to<br />

provide a final high school transcript or GED score<br />

report, and transcripts from all other <strong>college</strong>s and/or<br />

universities attended to:<br />

2. Apply for Financial Aid<br />

Both prospective and returning students may go to<br />

www.kaskaskia.edu/FinancialAid for eligibility requirements<br />

and information on grants, scholarships,<br />

student loans, work-study, and veteran’s benefits. In<br />

order to provide sufficient financial aid processing<br />

time, students are encouraged to submit their Free<br />

Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) information<br />

at least three months prior to the semester<br />

they plan to begin attending KC. Additional FAFSA<br />

application information is available at<br />

www.fafsa.ed.gov<br />

3. Testing and Assessment (ACT & COMPASS)<br />

All students are required to submit placement test<br />

scores prior to enrolling in an English or math<br />

course. The accepted placement scores are the ACT<br />

or the COMPASS test. If a student has taken the<br />

ACT while in high school, the scores should be available<br />

on the high school transcripts. Students that do<br />

not have ACT scores can make an appointment to<br />

take the COMPASS Test by calling the Success<br />

Center on the main campus at 618.545.3160.<br />

COMPASS tests are given Monday thru<br />

Thursday, 8:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. &<br />

Friday 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.<br />

4. Academic Advising<br />

Academic advisors are available to discuss test<br />

placement scores, to develop education plans, and<br />

ensure courses taken are based on degree/<br />

certificate requirements. Students will receive a list of<br />

courses suggested for degree/certificate completion.<br />

5. Registration<br />

A <strong>registration</strong> period is scheduled prior to each<br />

semester. Specific dates of <strong>registration</strong> are included<br />

in the schedule of classes printed each enrollment<br />

period and on the KC website. After advisement,<br />

continuing students can register online at<br />

campusnet.kaskaskia.edu/students or you can visit<br />

our enrollment center at the Main campus located in<br />

Centralia or one of our region education centers:<br />

Greenville Education Center, Nashville Education<br />

Center, Salem Education Center, Trenton Education<br />

Center, Vandalia Education Center, Harry L. Crisp<br />

Technology Center, and East St. Louis Community<br />

College Center during scheduled <strong>registration</strong><br />

periods. Addresses and hours of operation can be<br />

found on the <strong>Kaskaskia</strong> College website.<br />

6. Make Tuition Payment<br />

Payments can be made in person at the main campus<br />

or at any of our education centers. KC accepts<br />

debit/credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover and<br />

American Express), personal checks and money orders.<br />

However, cash payments are accepted only<br />

at the main campus location. Checks or money orders<br />

may be mailed to the main campus. Payments<br />

are also accepted via on-line by credit card at<br />

http://campusnet.kaskaskia.edu.<br />

Payment plans are available for those unable to pay<br />

in full at the time of <strong>registration</strong> by going to<br />

campusnet and clicking on the financial information<br />

tab. Then click Nelnet payment plan option.<br />
