ACT ® and COMPASS ® Placement Test All students must submit either ACT ® scores or COMPASS ® Test scores prior to being eligible to enroll in an English or math course. Kaskaskia College accepts the ACT ® scores taken as part of the Prairie State Tests. Any new student who has not taken the ACT ® and who plans to enroll will be required to take the COMPASS ® test prior to enrolling in any English or any math course. The COMPASS ® test and/or the ACT ® are also required for students seeking admission to special admission programs. There is no fee for the first two COMPASS ® tests, and tests are administered on the main campus as well as the Education Centers throughout the district. Students who are pursuing either the Associate in Arts degree or the Associate in Science degree must complete the Kaskaskia College geometry requirements prior to graduation. Students must satisfy one of the following requirements: 1. Successfully completed one year of high school Geometry (or Saxon Math) 2. Successfully completed one semester of Geometry at another college; or 3. ACT ® math score of greater than 22 4. COMPASS ® score of Algebra Domain 66-99 or College Algebra Domain of 0-45 or higher 5. III. MATH SKILLS To use your COMPASS® Mathematics scores in identifying your recommended math course, find the math test score on your COMPASS® student report that is marked “Placement Domain.” Utilizing the chart below, you will move down the score column for each section you have been tested in, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, College Algebra, and Trigonometry, and identify the recommended Math course for you. For example, if your “Placement Domain” for Pre-Algebra is 53, then the recommendation is for you to take Math 102, Beginning Algebra. If your score for Pre-Algebra is 97, and your score for Algebra is 41, then you would have the same recommended Math 102 course as well. However, if your score was 97 for Pre-Algebra and 62 for Algebra, your recommended course would be Math 107.
