NORWAY is<br />
<strong>KappAhl</strong>’s next oldest<br />
market, with 95 s<strong>to</strong>res<br />
on 31/8 2010. <strong>The</strong><br />
first was opened in<br />
1988.<br />
Finland got its first<br />
<strong>KappAhl</strong> s<strong>to</strong>re in 1990. On<br />
31/8 2010 the number<br />
reached 56.<br />
At <strong>KappAhl</strong> almost 4,800 employees work at 360<br />
workplaces on design, purchasing, production and<br />
<strong>sale</strong>s of 60 million garments in our 345 s<strong>to</strong>res every<br />
year. Here is a picture of the <strong>journey</strong> <strong>from</strong> <strong>idea</strong> <strong>to</strong><br />
s<strong>to</strong>re.<br />
THE CZECH REPUBLIC<br />
got its first <strong>KappAhl</strong> s<strong>to</strong>re in<br />
2009. In autumn 2010 another<br />
two s<strong>to</strong>res will open.<br />
SWEDEN is <strong>KappAhl</strong>’s<br />
largest market with 153<br />
s<strong>to</strong>res on 31/8 2010. <strong>The</strong><br />
first was opened in 1953.<br />
POLAND had 40<br />
<strong>KappAhl</strong> s<strong>to</strong>res on<br />
31/8 2010. <strong>The</strong> first<br />
opened in 1999.<br />
FUTURE EXPANSION In the past<br />
financial year <strong>KappAhl</strong> opened 26 s<strong>to</strong>res<br />
net and on 31/8 the company had<br />
contracts for a further 55 s<strong>to</strong>re premises.<br />
Future expansion will for the most part<br />
be in Central Europe. In Poland and the<br />
Czech Republic (which <strong>KappAhl</strong> entered<br />
in 2009) alone, there are over 48 million<br />
inhabitants.<br />

IDEAS AND PURCHASES: All<br />
the garments sold in <strong>KappAhl</strong>’s<br />
s<strong>to</strong>res are designed at <strong>KappAhl</strong>’s<br />
main office in Mölndal, j<strong>us</strong>t<br />
outside Gothenburg in Sweden.<br />
This is over 10,000 articles every<br />
year. <strong>The</strong> purchasers analyse, plan,<br />
submit orders and follow up.<br />

STORE NETWORK: On 31/8<br />
2010 <strong>KappAhl</strong> had 345 s<strong>to</strong>res in<br />
five countries. <strong>The</strong> goal is <strong>to</strong> open<br />
20–25 new s<strong>to</strong>res every year.<br />

DISTRIBUTION TO STORES:<br />
Every year 60 million garments<br />
pass through the distribution<br />
centre in Mölndal, which is one of<br />
Northern Europe’s most modern,<br />
<strong>to</strong> all the s<strong>to</strong>res. Read more<br />

SUSTAINABILITY: <strong>KappAhl</strong><br />
conducts active work on<br />
s<strong>us</strong>tainability, based on the<br />
company’s Code of Conduct<br />
and environmental policy. <strong>The</strong><br />
company purchases carbon<br />
offsets for travel, which has meant<br />
investments in a UN certified<br />
wind power project for the<br />
textile ind<strong>us</strong>try in India. Read<br />

INTERNATIONAL PRODUCTION<br />
OFFICES: <strong>KappAhl</strong> has eight production offices<br />
in Bangladesh, India, China, Turkey and Lithuania.<br />
A <strong>to</strong>tal of about 150 employees work here,<br />
moni<strong>to</strong>ring production and s<strong>us</strong>tainability issues<br />
associated with suppliers.<br />
PRODUCTION: J<strong>us</strong>t under 250 suppliers<br />
take care of production. <strong>The</strong> main part of<br />
production is in Asia. Almost 70 per cent of<br />
the garments come <strong>from</strong> there. Read more<br />

TRANSPORTATION: Almost 75 per cent<br />
of shipments <strong>from</strong> the country of<br />
manufacture are by sea, for cost and<br />
