2 ½ decilitre sugar<br />
4 decilitre flour<br />
2 tablespoon baking powder<br />
2 teaspoon vanilla<br />
A pinch of salt<br />
¾ decilitre cocoa<br />
1 egg<br />
3 decilitre milk<br />
75 g butter<br />
2 tablespoon cooking oil<br />
150 g dark chocolate (70%)<br />
Serve your friends and family these<br />
lovely chocolate cupcakes and you<br />
will be regarded as an even better<br />
cook. Especially when you serve them<br />
in these adorable cups. everyone will<br />
ask for the recipe. Fortunately, you<br />
will find it on the package.<br />
Preheat oven to 200°C.<br />
Combine all dry ingrediens.<br />
Melt the butter and mix with egg, milk and oil with an electric<br />
mixer for 2 minutes until light and creamy.<br />
Mix it all together.<br />
Chop the chocolate and use it to top the cupcakes.<br />
Bake for 20-25 minutes in 200°C.
The inside story on<br />
<strong>Vintage</strong> Stories<br />
Working in fashion and design means being in an environment similar to a catwalk on a daily basis,<br />
mainly because we at <strong>KappAhl</strong> have the privilege of being surrounded by creative people with shape and<br />
colour as both their profession and passion. In such an atmosphere you cannot help but admire how these<br />
people express their personalities through their personal style, either through garments bought second hand,<br />
that have been used for years, or by re-designing or even designing them by themselves - all common occurrences.<br />
We are frequently fascinated by our designer’s imaginative way of putting together an outfit and<br />
playfully using patterns and fabrics in order to create a totality in their wardrobes.<br />
It was decided at an early stage that there would be a<br />
subsequent collection in the autumn of the same year<br />
with the addition of children’s wear. This time the<br />
designers worked towards a party collection and visited<br />
second hand stores around the world, looked at old<br />
movie star cards and watched movies to find inspiration.<br />
The result was a glamorous collection where the dress<br />
and accessories were in focus, and, like the first time, it<br />
was a huge success.<br />
In our mind’s eye we can see a woman who is thoroughly<br />
contented to be at home, enjoying her own home-baked<br />
cakes and the fragrance of geraniums. And naturally, by<br />
her side, she has a little princess, also with her very own<br />
specially designed wardrobe.<br />

<strong>KappAhl</strong><br />
During one of our design meetings an idea started to<br />
grow in our minds: “What if we could create a collection<br />
where we took advantage of all the goodies in our designers’<br />
wardrobes?”<br />
No sooner said than done. We collected an array of our<br />
favourite pieces and while reveling in laces and delicate<br />
fabrics we simultaneously learnt about their background<br />
and history. <strong>Vintage</strong> Stories was born!<br />
We knew then and there that we wanted to produce a<br />
collection without renouncing either quality or details.<br />
Rather, we wanted to project the story of each garment<br />
and its features through unique labels attached to each<br />
piece and above all create a collection in small volumes,<br />
in other words the opposite of what <strong>KappAhl</strong> usually<br />
does, in order for the collection to feel as authentic<br />
and vintage as we wanted. The first <strong>Vintage</strong> Stories<br />
collection was launched in the spring of 2009 and was<br />
an immediate success that sold out in only a few days at<br />
many locations.<br />

This spring <strong>Vintage</strong> Stories celebrates the soft shapes<br />
of the fifties and in particular the female shapes of hips,<br />
waist and bust. The ideal that it was better before is<br />
prevalent in the collection where each garment has<br />
been designed with a twinkle in the eye; hence the<br />
imaginative mix of patterns, shapes and colours. No<br />
detail has been overlooked, each button, pocket, plait or<br />
ruffle have been attentively designed in order to achieve<br />
the feeling of uniqueness. The garments are made of<br />
the softest cotton, as if they have been washed several<br />
times and dried outside by the wind and sun.

Once considered a fabric for workwear, denim has<br />
now been transformed into a highly fashionable must<br />
in every modern woman’s wardrobe. This spring the<br />
denim dress will be the key item to wear to all those<br />
casual pre-summer parties while sipping a spritzer or<br />
while playing bridge with the girls.<br />

HOW TO GET THE<br />
50’S Look<br />
Patrik Lernberger shares his tips and reveals his secrets<br />
We had a chat with renowned hair-and makeup<br />
artist Patrik Lernberger from, among various<br />
other productions, God Kväll on Sveriges Television<br />
about how to achieve the right fifties look.<br />
Here he shares his tips and reveals his secrets.<br />
1.<br />
You should always apply your makeup on wellcleansed<br />
skin; you could do a facial peeling first<br />
to ensure your skin is as smooth as possible and that<br />
all dead skin cells are removed. Gently massage on a<br />
primer. If you need to tweeze your eyebrows remember<br />
to do it from below and to strive for an arched eyebrow.<br />
2.<br />
Apply a matte foundation, keeping in mind that<br />
in the fifties you did not looked tanned, instead<br />
choose a shade that is slightly lighter than your natural<br />
tone. The aim with foundation is to even out and to<br />

Apply a light shade of eye shadow on your eyelids,<br />
all the way up to your brows. This will work as a<br />
base and from this you can experiment with colours: if<br />
you are blond and blue-eyed why not use a blue shade or<br />
if you have a darker complexion with green eyes you<br />
could try a green or dark brown shadow.<br />
5.<br />
The most difficult moment when putting on<br />
makeup is applying fluid eye liner. Starting from<br />
the corner of the eye you draw a single line finishing<br />
with a little bend, slightly upwards at the end of the eye.<br />
Afterwards you fill with a thicker line, from the middle<br />
and out.<br />
If you prefer seductive movie stars eyes then I<br />
recommend using false eyelashes. There is a vast<br />
selection of false eyelashes available today and they are<br />
actually not difficult to use and come with easy to follow<br />
instructions. Practise makes perfect and I promise that<br />
the lashes will give you an exciting look! You can even<br />
apply mascara, in several layers, before putting on the<br />
lashes for more intense eyes.<br />

cover possible spots and not to give you a more brown<br />
skin tone. If needed you could put on concealer beneath<br />
the eye if you have any dark areas you wish to hide.<br />
3.<br />
We do not use powder today as much as we did<br />
in the fifties when all women carried a compact in<br />
their handbag. But if you want to achieve the matte look<br />
you could use some loose powder on your t-zone, which<br />
is your forehead, nose and chin which sometimes can be<br />
a bit shiny.<br />
6.<br />
Fill your eyebrows with a pen in a brown shade<br />
that suits you and draw tiny lines in the same<br />
direction the hair grows. Nothing frames your face and<br />
enhances your eyes better than well shaped eyebrows!<br />
7.<br />
The cheeks look cute in peachy shades of blush.<br />
Smile to yourself in the mirror and apply it using<br />
upward movements from your cheekbones and up.<br />
8.<br />
We want nice curly hair which is best achieved<br />
by using an curling iron or straightening iron, but<br />
do not forget to use a heat protecting product before<br />
in order to prevent the heat from damaging your hair.<br />
Carefully brush your hair with a boar bristle brush when<br />
it has cooled down, following with hairspray to fix the<br />
curls.<br />
9.<br />
Finish the look with a pink or red lipstick and use<br />
extra lip liner for a lasting result. Use a lipstick<br />
that gives complete coverage, bite on a napkin, apply a<br />
second layer of lipstick and voilá you look like a true<br />
fifties movie star!
