EDITION
2009 I 2010
Edition
Luxury as a standpoint.
An increasing number of people want to design their personal
space beyond predefined conventions. That no longer relates
only to architecture, furniture and accessories. The desire for
individuality has reached the floor - accompanied by highest
requirements in terms of material and design. Luxurious floor
design is becoming the basis for ambitious home living.
Edition from Parador fulfils all these requirements. Consequently,
six of the world's most renowned designers have created floors
for Parador that go beyond the overly familiar style specifications
of the mainstream. Yet they are highly innovative in appearance
and break away from standard designs. In addition to that, the
Edition collection opens up a repertoire of laminate decors, created
by the Parador design team, which interpret themes from
everyday life in a new, unusual and almost artistic manner.
Perfection, a love of detail and plenty of expert knowledge are
also the basis for Edition in engineered wood and solid wood.
A selection of different plank formats in in sought-after oak,
where colour and surface finish can be individually combined to
suit personal needs. Edition from Parador brings luxury to the
floor. Prepare to be surprised!

EDITION I I Collections Overview
At the focus
of individual taste.
They have different lives, different homes and different furnishings;
people who value discerning home design do not follow rigid
standards, instead they follow their own taste. That is why they
also have widely different requirements of a floor design that suits
their furnishing style. For this reason Edition features three different
product lines, which take three different paths towards luxury.
Edition 1
stands for floor creations that have been developed by internationally
outstanding designers - producing free variations on the
flooring theme without estrictions. A firework display of design
statements and optical effects.
Edition 2
developed by the Parador design team, using completely new
patterns for the design of laminate decors: everyday life situations
are taken up and re-interpreted. Gummi bears and graffiti, but also
satellite images and famous works of art consequently find their
way onto the floor.
Edition 3
is based on a genuine classic: oak. Block floors and wideplanks in
engineered wood and solid wood can be combined with a choice
of colours and surface finishes. The result is a truly personal floor
design.
UNIVERSAL DESIGN
When Sigmund Freud wrote of Leonardo da Vinci "He was like a man who woke too early in the
darkness while the others were still asleep.", he described very well, how the universal genius of the
Renaissance should be classified: As a revolutionary of science. As a pioneer of art. As the painter of
a new world view.
This Freudian description is easy to follow and very worldly. Yet it does not do justice to Leonardo's
excessive creative urge, which related to all areas of life. To this day, almost nobody has equalled him
in this trait. Which established creator has the ambition to enter unknown territory? Which artist
comes with such a strong creative will that he also dabbles in different techniques? Which successful
designer thinks so universally that he wants to live out his creative passion in less regarded objects?
Edition 1 from Parador provides the answer: to create this new flooring collection, the who is who of
the international design elite has entered the arena. Like a Leonardo da Vinci, they have confronted
the task with curiosity and no preconceptions. Their experience in other creative disciplines helped
them to bring new design concepts to the floor. A completely new notion of floor design has thus
emerged: laminate and real wood floors as exciting design objects. A renaissance in creative freedom.
Or to put it in modern terms: Parador Edition 1 "no limits".
EDITION I I Edition 1
Edition 1
Rise above without taking off.
Raise the floor to a design object. A challenge for which Parador
was soon able to fill the international designer elite with enthusiasm.
Six renowned top designers creatively came to grips
with the subject of floor design and opened up impressive new
dimensions: Fascinatingly exclusive looks for all those who allow
themselves to indulge their own, discerning taste. To this end,
Ben van Berkel, Konstantin Grcic, Ora Ïto, Jean-Marie Massaud,
Karim Rashid and Matteo Thun looked for new creative ways and
found such extraordinary solutions that it is difficult to put the
results into words.
Edition 1 Jean-Marie Massaud
ALEPH
The laminate floors in Edition 1 are the perfect basis for ideally
showcasing the latest furniture trends as well as design classics.
These floors are such exciting compositions themselves,
however, that they need not shrink from any design comparison
in the world. Yet they go perfectly well with any luxurious form of
architecture. Or to put it briefly: Parador Edition 1 - revolutionary
floor design.
EDITION 1 I I Designers
EDITION 1 I I Designers
In the name of good form.
They plan, design and create for Parador. The internationally renowned and multi-award winning
designers Ben van Berkel, Konstantin Grcic, Ora Ïto, Jean-Marie Massaud, Karim Rashid and Matteo
Thun. As part of Edition, the new designer line from Parador, they create modern laminate and real
wood floors. Contemporary, unmistakable and yet typically Parador.
Ben van Berkel
The Dutchman born in 1957 runs
the architecture and design office
UNStudio in Amsterdam together
with a female partner. At the State
University for Visual Arts in Frankfurt
am Main (Städelschule) he directs the
architecture course and, among other
things, is known as the architect of
the new Mercedes Benz Museum in
Stuttgart.
Konstantin Grcic
Born in Munich in 1965, he is considered
one of the most influential contemporary
designers from Germany. After finishing
an apprenticeship as a cabinet maker
and studying design at the Royal College
of Art in London, he started his own
business in 1991. His MAYDAY lamp was
accepted into the permanent collection
at the Museum of Modern Art. His latest
chair creation was a prominent seating
spot at this year’s Milan Furniture Fair.
Ora ïto
The French designer Ora Ïto became
the shooting star of the design scene
within weeks on the strength of virtual
creations without orders from the
clients, e.g. for Louis Vuitton, Apple
and Gucci, which he presented on the
internet.
Jean-Marie Massaud
Born in Toulouse in 1966, he studied
product design at the École Nationale
Supérieure de Création Industrielle in
Paris. In his studio he puts together
projects ranging from a perfume
bottle to a high-rise apartment block
of any magnitude, for example, the
"Waterdream" bathroom for Hansgrohe
or the "Truffle" armchair for Porro.
Karim Rashid
Born in Cairo, Karim Rashid has for
years been seen as a trendsetter of
the international design topflight. He
skilfully plays with the style elements
of modern design trends and transforms
them into his own design language.
International hotels, restaurant chains
and over 60 furniture manufacturers
have put their faith in the zeitgeist
perception of Rashid's New York studio.
Matteo Thun
Before the Italian architect and designer
opened his office in Milan in 1984, he
was a co-founder of Sottsass Associati
and the legendary Memphis Group in
1981. As professor of design he taught
at the university in Vienna, worked as
creative director for Swatch and designs
clocks, porcelain, upholstered furniture,
carpets, bathrooms, hotels, interior
fittings and more.
Creating everyday culture with design ideas. This works
particularly impressively on the floor with real wood, the most
classic of all floor coverings. And in a particularly appealing
fashion by Matteo Thun, the internationally famous expert for
wood design. For Parador, the star designer has developed a
separate floor concept for the natural material. A concept which
he uses to lift the floor design out of the two dimensional realm,
thus expanding his outstanding ideas for creative design from
real wood to the floor. He manages - by means of innovative
formats, which can be combined and different surface finishes -
to give solid wood and engineered wood floors their own unique
design, without making the natural material appear artificial. The
home living experience is thereby filled with completely new
impressions: "Feel with your eyes, see with your hands".
A revolutionary design approach, which attributes an even higher
value to high quality real wood floors: a longing from which
nobody can escape.
Following role models is not their thing. Today's generation of designers is more often influenced by
their own world of experience and personal gut feeling than by knowledge of art history. The power
of the tangible is their main source of inspiration. If anyone does come close to existing styles, then it
happens unconsciously.
Andy War...
who?
Highly unconventional creative ideas emerge freely and without influence. The creators remain anonymous
and yet their works find their way into the public eye: They greet us in the form of graffiti from
the shabbiest high-rise block, lead us in the form of a pop-up to the better-looking pages of the World
Wide Web and, on closer inspection, become visible in the most lapidary everyday objects.
Objects from daily life are still used today to embody one's own environment. Not necessarily soup
cans, but definitely in artistic elevation. A glorification of momentary habits. And thus nothing more
than a reflection of consumer society.
These creations of the prevailing lifestyle appear familiar and surprising at the same time, sometimes
you feel seduced, sometimes pursued - design is everywhere. The same is now true on the floor: Parador
Edition 2 - great design that makes do without big names. Yet it makes use of the immense scope that
everyday life offers us. As decors for laminate floors. As the latest form of individualism. As a witness
to the spirit of the times.

Edition 2
Freestyle is the spirit of the times.
Using flooring to conquer new design worlds, to implement
the most challenging ideas and exceed design limits: for the
Parador designers, absolute style freedom is the ultimate concept
of Edition 2. With their great experience, highest demands
and their own good taste, they set new standards in laminate.
The result is innovative floor design that polarises, breaks away
from the normal and sets itself apart from the conventional.
ideas – an eye-catching laminate
amount of creative freedom and imagination, the decors in Edition
2 keep life fixed to the floor in a previously unknown manner.
Whether it is historic works of art or the latest street art, unseen
perspectives or ubiquitous product designs - thanks to the innovative
ArtPrint digital print process, anything can be used as a model
Designing one's own home is an exception in many ways. And is accordingly frequently lived out with
particular passion. For the perfect home ambience, everything simply has to match: The architecture.
The lighting. The furnishing. And of course special demands are also placed on the floor: it should be
particularly high quality and durable. It must guarantee years of satisfaction and demonstrate one's
own good taste. If it is going to fulfil luxurious standards, we look around for suitable role models to
guide us. Yet these role models are mostly sought in vain nowadays.
The spirit of the times has changed. Defining our own environment liberates us from what is generally
accepted. Nothing is left from the conformism of years gone by. The individual has become the focal point, everyone is following the megatrend towards individualisation.
And there is nothing wrong with that: Our neighbour's influence on our personal taste is fast approaching
zero. These days, the only thing that counts is our own, intuitive style. When it comes to design,
nobody is presented with a fait accompli any more. It is more a case of continually recreating things.
A particularly impressive example of the rise of individualisation to becoming a design principle is
provided by the floor collection Parador Edition 3. Here you can combine high quality real wood floors
with different surfaces and colours and design them according to your personal specifications. The
Parador experts will offer you the right support for many important decisions. And - when it comes to
real luxury - they are certainly more experienced than your neighbour.
EDITION I I Quality and service
EDITION I I Quality and service
Parador on top.
Innovative floor design is the unique selling point of Parador
Edition. This benefit is not on its own, however. The Parador
standards also naturally come into effect with floor products in
the Edition collection. For example, Parador has a strict obligation
to sustainability in production, promotes health on all
products, and offers many practical advantages and well thought
out, customer-oriented service.
Sustainability
Healthy living
Everything to do with the floor
Online Services
Living today is not just about fashion, taste and quality. It is also
about ideally combining design demands with one's own sense
of responsibility. Parador has therefore set out its own ethical
policy, which is in harmony with the ecological, economical and
socially acceptable principles of sustainable forestry. That gives
us the peace of mind to be able to offer you products, which
without exception are in line with the principles of sustainable
forest cultivation. We can therefore make a joint contribution to
the sensible treatment of wood as a raw material and actively
support the conservation of forests around the world.
Parador products are predominantly made of wood, the most
natural of all materials. We dedicate just as much attention to the
other components: on all products, materials are only used that
are healthy for the home. Continuous harmful substance tests
by the independent Landesgewerbeanstalt (LGA) permanently
ensure that they are compatible to health. As a consequence, for
example, all Parador products carry the "Der Blaue Engel" ("Blue
Angel") eco label because of their particularly low emissions.
Other innovations such as ProAir for improved indoor air quality
with laminate and engineered wood floors ensure that Parador
products support health in the home in many ways.
Just as perfect as the many discerning floor coverings are the additional
products, which Parador supplies to achieve the best floor.
This starts with the comprehensive system of different underlays
in premium quality: they reduce noises, compensate for slightly
uneven spots and protect the floor from stress at different intensities
depending on use. For a harmonious finish with the wall, we
offer an extensive, easy to install skirtings assortment. Many other
accessories for installation, cleaning and maintenance can be found
at www.parador.eu
Many helpful internet tools to guide you even more quickly to your
dream floor, can be found on www.parador.eu. Let the Material
Calculator work out your exact material needs for your floor project
online. The Parador Floor Adviser helps you make the right product
selection using your personal preferences. The Interior Designer is
a practical online tool that allows you to install the different Parador
floors in your own rooms virtually so that you can check the
different effects beforehand.
