At the focus
of individual taste.
They have different lives, different homes and different furnishings;
people who value discerning home design do not follow rigid
standards, instead they follow their own taste. That is why they
also have widely different requirements of a floor design that suits
their furnishing style. For this reason Edition features three different
product lines, which take three different paths towards luxury.
Edition 1
stands for floor creations that have been developed by internationally
outstanding designers - producing free variations on the
flooring theme without estrictions. A firework display of design
statements and optical effects.
Edition 2
developed by the Parador design team, using completely new
patterns for the design of laminate decors: everyday life situations
are taken up and re-interpreted. Gummi bears and graffiti, but also
satellite images and famous works of art consequently find their
way onto the floor.
Edition 3
is based on a genuine classic: oak. Block floors and wideplanks in
engineered wood and solid wood can be combined with a choice
of colours and surface finishes. The result is a truly personal floor
design.

When Sigmund Freud wrote of Leonardo da Vinci "He was like a man who woke too early in the
darkness while the others were still asleep.", he described very well, how the universal genius of the
Renaissance should be classified: As a revolutionary of science. As a pioneer of art. As the painter of
a new world view.
This Freudian description is easy to follow and very worldly. Yet it does not do justice to Leonardo's
excessive creative urge, which related to all areas of life. To this day, almost nobody has equalled him
in this trait. Which established creator has the ambition to enter unknown territory? Which artist
comes with such a strong creative will that he also dabbles in different techniques? Which successful
designer thinks so universally that he wants to live out his creative passion in less regarded objects?
Edition 1 from Parador provides the answer: to create this new flooring collection, the who is who of
the international design elite has entered the arena. Like a Leonardo da Vinci, they have confronted
the task with curiosity and no preconceptions. Their experience in other creative disciplines helped
them to bring new design concepts to the floor. A completely new notion of floor design has thus

Rise above without taking off.
Raise the floor to a design object. A challenge for which Parador
was soon able to fill the international designer elite with enthusiasm.
Six renowned top designers creatively came to grips
with the subject of floor design and opened up impressive new
dimensions: Fascinatingly exclusive looks for all those who allow
themselves to indulge their own, discerning taste. To this end,
Ben van Berkel, Konstantin Grcic, Ora Ïto, Jean-Marie Massaud,
Karim Rashid and Matteo Thun looked for new creative ways and
found such extraordinary solutions that it is difficult to put the
results into words.

The laminate floors in Edition 1 are the perfect basis for ideally
showcasing the latest furniture trends as well as design classics.

They plan, design and create for Parador. The internationally renowned and multi-award winning
designers Ben van Berkel, Konstantin Grcic, Ora Ïto, Jean-Marie Massaud, Karim Rashid and Matteo
Thun. As part of Edition, the new designer line from Parador, they create modern laminate and real
wood floors. Contemporary, unmistakable and yet typically Parador.
Ben van Berkel
The Dutchman born in 1957 runs
the architecture and design office
UNStudio in Amsterdam together
with a female partner. At the State
University for Visual Arts in Frankfurt
am Main (Städelschule) he directs the
architecture course and, among other
things, is known as the architect of
the new Mercedes Benz Museum in
Stuttgart.
Konstantin Grcic
Born in Munich in 1965, he is considered
one of the most influential contemporary
designers from Germany. After finishing
an apprenticeship as a cabinet maker
and studying design at the Royal College
of Art in London, he started his own
business in 1991. His MAYDAY lamp was
accepted into the permanent collection
at the Museum of Modern Art. His latest
chair creation was a prominent seating
spot at this year’s Milan Furniture Fair.
Ora ïto
The French designer Ora Ïto became
the shooting star of the design scene
within weeks on the strength of virtual
creations without orders from the
clients, e.g. for Louis Vuitton, Apple
and Gucci, which he presented on the
internet.
Jean-Marie Massaud
Born in Toulouse in 1966, he studied
product design at the École Nationale
Supérieure de Création Industrielle in
Paris. In his studio he puts together
projects ranging from a perfume
bottle to a high-rise apartment block
of any magnitude, for example, the
"Waterdream" bathroom for Hansgrohe
or the "Truffle" armchair for Porro.
Karim Rashid
Born in Cairo, Karim Rashid has for
years been seen as a trendsetter of
the international design topflight. He
skilfully plays with the style elements
of modern design trends and transforms
them into his own design language.
International hotels, restaurant chains
and over 60 furniture manufacturers
have put their faith in the zeitgeist
perception of Rashid's New York studio.
Matteo Thun
Before the Italian architect and designer
opened his office in Milan in 1984, he
was a co-founder of Sottsass Associati
and the legendary Memphis Group in
1981. As professor of design he taught
at the university in Vienna, worked as
creative director for Swatch and designs
clocks, porcelain, upholstered furniture,
carpets, bathrooms, hotels, interior
fittings and more.

Parador products are predominantly made of wood, the most

other components: on all products, materials are only used that
are healthy for the home. Continuous harmful substance tests
by the independent Landesgewerbeanstalt (LGA) permanently
ensure that they are compatible to health. As a consequence, for
example, all Parador products carry the "Der Blaue Engel" ("Blue
Angel") eco label because of their particularly low emissions.
Other innovations such as ProAir for improved indoor air quality
with laminate and engineered wood floors ensure that Parador
products support health in the home in many ways.
