13.1 Overview<br />
This standard provides guidance <strong>on</strong> the audi<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>r’s resp<strong>on</strong>sibility regard<strong>in</strong>g subsequent events.<br />
Subsequent events occur after the date of the f<strong>in</strong>ancial statements (the period-end date). Other key dates <strong>in</strong><br />
the preparati<strong>on</strong>, audit, and release of f<strong>in</strong>ancial statements are outl<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong> the exhibit below.<br />

“Subsequent events” refers <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>:<br />
• Events occurr<strong>in</strong>g between the date of the f<strong>in</strong>ancial statements and the date of the audi<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>r’s report; and<br />
• Facts that become known <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> the audi<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>r after the date of the audi<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>r’s report.<br />

560.6 The audi<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>r shall perform audit procedures designed <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> obta<strong>in</strong> sufficient appropriate audit<br />
evidence that all events occurr<strong>in</strong>g between the date of the f<strong>in</strong>ancial statements and the date of<br />
the audi<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>r’s report that require adjustment of, or disclosure <strong>in</strong>, the f<strong>in</strong>ancial statements have<br />
been identified. The audi<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>r is not, however, expected <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> perform additi<strong>on</strong>al audit procedures<br />
<strong>on</strong> matters <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> which previously applied audit procedures have provided satisfac<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>ry<br />

560.7 The audi<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>r shall perform the procedures required by paragraph 6 so that they cover the<br />
period from the date of the f<strong>in</strong>ancial statements <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> the date of the audi<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>r’s report, or as near<br />
as practicable there<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>. The audi<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>r shall take <strong>in</strong><str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> account the audi<str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g>r’s risk assessment <strong>in</strong><br />
determ<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g the nature and extent of such audit procedures, which shall <strong>in</strong>clude the follow<strong>in</strong>g:<br />

(a) Obta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g an understand<strong>in</strong>g of any procedures management has established <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> ensure<br />
that subsequent events are identified.<br />
(b) Inquir<strong>in</strong>g of management and, where appropriate, those charged with governance<br />
as <str<strong>on</strong>g>to</str<strong>on</strong>g> whether any subsequent events have occurred which might affect the f<strong>in</strong>ancial<br />

(c) Read<strong>in</strong>g m<strong>in</strong>utes, if any, of the meet<strong>in</strong>gs, of the entity’s owners, management and those<br />
charged with governance, that have been held after the date of the f<strong>in</strong>ancial statements<br />
and <strong>in</strong>quir<strong>in</strong>g about matters discussed at any such meet<strong>in</strong>gs for which m<strong>in</strong>utes are not yet<br />
