SIGNIFICANCE: Constructed for Dr. Henry C. Devigne, physician and surgeon. Born in Havanna, Cuba, Devighne served as Commissioner of Health for the Territory, 1922-1933. AHRS#: JUN-l 90 CBJ #: B-2 HISTORIC NAME : Bishop-Conn Apartments DATE(S): 1915 LOCATION: 235 5th Street LOT/BLOCK #: Lot 5 Block 18 Juneau Townsite DESCRIPTION: 2-story structure, series of sloping roofs; corrugated metal roofing; intersecting gables and false front; shingles on gables; wood frame construction; tongue-and-groove siding; double hung windows, partial basement. SIGNIFICANCE: Believed to haver~.'ructed ..by John Conn, a local carpenter, in 1915. Conn, an.!(Englishman arrived in Juneau in 1912. Prosperous landowner, he donated l~nd for t e church building constructed on Fourth and Franklin. z.
