Franklin Street LOT/BLOCK#:" Lot 10 Block 83 Juneau Townsite DESCRIPTION: 40'x94', 2-story, flat roof, concrete structure, i rregul arly'-spaced doubl e hUng windows; decorative boxed-cornices; has had stone facade placed on l st floor storefront; located in old dock area of Juneau. SIGNIFICANCE: An early structure in Juneau's dock area and red light district, the Crystal Pal ace was one of the area' s popular bars and music halls. Reconstructed in 1983 with concrete and stucco facade. Originally commercial store front with central revised entry-way . Exterior significantly altered from hi storiestate. SIGNIFICANCE: Originally Anna Goldstein's General Merchandise Store. Of no relation. to Anna, the pioneer Goldstein family later acquired the store. Gol dstein is famous for her purchase of the Bonanza Lode and subsequent claim to most of the land in Juneau which was eventually overturned in the courts. SOURCES:_7; 10; ~. 19
