The ethnicity of our students for the past three years is shown in
Table 1. Our student population is similar to our sponsoring
district’s make-up and remains relatively stable from year to year.

AUTHORIZING AGENCY RELATIONSHIP
The school receives enormous support from its sponsoring district
and, in fact, has the reputation of having the best relationship with
its chartering body of any charter school (over 80) in San Diego
County. There are six items that stand out in particular: 1) the
superintendent serves on the school’s governing board, 2) the
district is willing to provide cash flow advances, 3) the charter
school and the district share (co-hire) personnel, when appropriate,
such as in business services, 4) the district serves as the school’s
lead special education body and provides access to the local SELPA,
5) the district assists with eRate planning and filing, and 6) the
district provides a building for our office services in Julian.
WASC ACCREDITATION HISTORY
The Commission approved Julian Charter School’s 2004 application
for candidacy status with a 2007 mid-term review.
