SCHOOLWIDE ACTION PLAN Action Plan Item #1 Area of Focus: Expand expository writing strategies across the curriculum. Rationale: Supporting Data: ESLRs Addressed: Within the context of core knowledge instruction, students must also learn the essential skills for success in today’s world, such as critical thinking, problem solving, communication and collaboration. Self-study groups found that although “writing” was at least minimally included in each core content area, writing was not used as a tool to increase the understanding of core content concepts, nor was the focus on a carefully crafted, clear, central presentation of ideas, examples or definitions and reflective of the writer's underlying understanding of the topic.
