Is There Still a Need for Change in Teaching Methodology? There is a need for a move away from traditional structural and grammar-translation and audiolingual methods of teaching to more communicative and student-centred learning experiences based on authentic materials(see Table 15). This move cannot be effectively made unless the teachers understand the basis of change of this type and have some understanding of its likely effects.
