Handbook page 32/94 SPA 1500 Maintenance Instructions 1.4 FAULT FINDING PROCESS. 1. Consult the system description together with the drawings. 2. Make an analysis of the symptoms as far as possible. Check for electrical or mechanical noise, instrument readings, etc. 3. The error symptoms should be written into the Maintenance Logbook together with instrument readings and all the actions carried out during the fault finding process, even if the influence to the error symptoms seems neglectable. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT SPECIALLY IF THE FAULT IS NOT DETECTED AND FURTHER SUPPORT IS NECESSARY, MAY BE FROM THE MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT OR FROM THE VENDOR. 4. Carrie out the following points except for the points of no interest due to the error conditions: a. Make a thorough check on all plugs, sockets, terminals, boards, switches and relays. Watch specially the cable arrangement and look for any damage of the wires. b. Check all fuses and correct level of supply voltages. The fuses and the power arrangements are located in the Central Equipments. c. Look for any damaged parts or components in the Central Equipments. d. If you suspect the fault(s) to be located within the Central Equipments, replace with spare parts. e. When faults are detected and corrected, carry out a check of the complete system. Before attempting to make emergency adjustments of controls with which you are not fully familiar: - Write down and mark accurately all original control pre-settings. Return all controls to original settings if a readjustment showing no improvement in performance. - Unless extreme emergency do not try to readjust factory settings. Do not make modifications or attempts to operate the equipment beyond factory specifications which will include a reasonable safety margin.
