Installation instructions<br />
7 INSTALLATION OF EQUIPMENT<br />
7.1 Central Equipment<br />
All central cabinets shall be installed in accordance with applicable Layout Drawings and<br />
Equipment Arrangement Drawings.<br />
• Care shall be taken while installing the equipment not to cause any unnecessary damage<br />
due to unfamiliarity of the equipment.<br />
7.2 Installation of Field Equipment<br />
General<br />
All field equipment, such as Loudspeakers, Beacons, Access Panels etc. shall be installed in<br />
accordance with applicable Data sheets, Layout Drawings and Equipment Arrangement<br />
Drawings. A document revision check shall be carried out to ensure that the work packages<br />
contain the latest issue of the drawings/documents.<br />
Any equipment installed outdoors and left in a turned off condition must be properly weather<br />
proofed as per manufacturers manuals. Weather proofing shall ensure that no excess humidity<br />
or water enters the equipment causing corrosion.<br />
General Location Rules<br />
Equipment should be located in accordance with the following requirements:<br />
• Protected against damage.<br />
• Protected against vibration.<br />
• Operability and serviceability.<br />
• Display instruments and flashing lights to be legible and visible from main access areas.<br />
• Accessibility for maintenance without scaffolding.<br />
Electrical equipment should not be located in open deck areas.<br />
Equipment, which has to be installed in exposed areas, should be sheltered by use of<br />
enclosures.<br />
When Junction Boxes are installed in exposed areas, drain plugs shall be installed.<br />
Final location shall be selected to avoid interference with escape routings, walkways, other<br />
equipment, pipes, etc. and obstruction against activities related to transport and lifting<br />
operations.<br />
Heavy equipment should not be supported on pipe work, handrails, access ladders or cable<br />
ladders.<br />
Equipment located in areas which do not allow for maintenance accessibility as required,<br />
should be installed on brackets which are arranged such that the equipment can be rotated,<br />
raised or lowered into areas where maintenance can take place without the need for scaffolding.<br />
Junction Boxes<br />
Local Junction Boxes should be installed directly on steel supports adjacent to the equipment.<br />
The junction boxes shall be installed so that they are easily accessible.<br />
Area Junction Boxes shall be installed in accordance with the functional requirements<br />
discussed above.<br />
Access Panels<br />
Access Panels, which are not installed in consoles/cabinets/racks/etc. but are to be field<br />
mounted, shall be located approximately 1.5 m above deck/floor.<br />
