Whether you are a yearbook editor, staff member, adviser or business
manager, we know you will be enriched by our workshop. Located on the
historic campus of Gettysburg College, in Gettysburg. Pa., the Jostens workshop
allows our guests to enjoy a variety of resources, comfortable accommodations, and
many recreational facilities.
Our commitment remains unchanged. We will provide the most thorough, upto-date
yearbook instruction available today, while focusing on student development
and self esteem. Our program features some of the most highly acclaimed yearbook
advisers in the nation. Experts from all fields of journalism will be on hand to give oneon-one
instruction to advisers as well as staff members.
Although our main goal is to equip you with all of the necessary tools to tackle
your upcoming yearbook, our camp is not “all work and no play.” We have arranged
a complete schedule of entertainment and recreational activities, including: an opening
night cookout, indoor swimming, tennis, volleyball, basketball, movie nights and lots
more! We’re confident that this will be an experience you will not soon forget.
Plan to be part of an exciting educational journey into yearbook journalism. When
we receive your registration form (back of brochure), we will e-mail you a complete
package which will include travel directions, housing information,
class and activity schedule, and other details.
We look forward to seeing you there!

Be g in n e r Tr a c k:
This track will cover basic design, caption and headline writing, as well as yearbook
production and deadlines. The best match for this group is brand new staffers
and those who need a refresher on the essentials. Even second and third year
staffers may find this a perfect way to enhance their skills.
Ad v a n c e d Tr a c k:
Take a fast paced tour through trendy design, color placement, and ladder development. We don’t want to
lose you along the way, so make sure you have mastered the fundamentals. Seasoned Advisers, Editors-in
Chief, and fourth year staffers will get the most out of this division of yearbook planning.
Ad v i s e r Tr a c k s: {Be g in n e r & Ad v a n c e d}
For those with one or ten years of yearbook experience. These tracks are designed to answer questions, share ideas, and
connect with your peers. Advisers who have survived the first few years, this is your chance to master the basics.
Te c h n o l o g y Tr a c k: *
Sessions specific to Adobe InDesign or Yeartech Online will be offered throughout the workshop. This sequence will be
designed for students and staffs that want to get a jump start on their desktop publishing. Receive tips and tricks to speed your
production process and get an early look at using the new 2010 Yeartech tools. There will be 2 techno-go tracks ( InDesign,
and Yeartech Online ) and seating is limited, so sign up early! Participants may bring their own laptops with the appropriate
software pre-installed ( lab computers will be available ). If you choose this track, you will be involved with technology
sessions throughout the camp except for general sessions.
Go f o r It! Tr a c k: * g o f o r it! a d va n c e d
This sequence is designed specifically for those staffs that are positioned for and aspire to producing the highest levels of
journalistically focused yearbooks. Following the guidelines and trends set by the two national press associations, “Go For
It! Advanced” sessions will be led by two nationally recognized yearbook authorities whose publications programs have
been critically acclaimed. Specialized training that will empower staffs to “kick it up” a notch will be provided by these
two instructors. The cost per staff is $800.00 to provide this intensive instructional learning and production environment.
Enrollment will be limited to 10 staffs with no more than 8 staff members and one adviser per staff. A staff having more than
8 students will be charged $125.00 per additional student. This charge will be added to the original $800.00 staff charge,
i.e. if a staff has nine students the staff charge will be $925.00 and so on.
*If you are choosing the Technology Track or the “Go For It!” Track there is an additional cost involved (see reverse).
Business Ma n a g e r Tr a c k:
This new session is designed to provide materials and resources needed for financial management and
complete yearlong campaigns to assist in promoting yearbook and ad sales. Participants will also learn
how to easily record and track all sales online through Yearbook Avenue. This track is designed to work
with the business manager kit that your Jostens Sales Representative can provide for you.
