Recently there is an increasing concern about contamination of the environment with
pharmaceutical residues and their metabolites. These contaminants are excreted into
a hospital or municipal wastewater in considerable amount; in addition many of them
are not completely degraded in sewage treatment plants and remains in water effluent.
