regions and apportion them to regional leadership teams. New<br />

style <strong>Jesus</strong> <strong>Army</strong> maps were soon hang<strong>in</strong>g boldly <strong>in</strong> <strong>our</strong> houses<br />

display<strong>in</strong>g these 24 regions and their pioneer<strong>in</strong>g activities.<br />

We had now converted a two-storey outbuild<strong>in</strong>g at the Farm<br />

to house <strong>our</strong> enquiries, communications, accounts, res<strong>our</strong>ces<br />

and graphics departments. Alongside Noel’s crowded Farm<br />

office these Central Offices formed a well def<strong>in</strong>ed ‘HQ’ that<br />

shouldered much of the adm<strong>in</strong>istrative burden for the newlyformed<br />

regions. Under its watchful eye, regional leaders developed<br />

their own genius as pastors of the <strong>Jesus</strong> <strong>Army</strong> congregations<br />

<strong>in</strong> their area. The ma<strong>in</strong> regional men met together<br />

regularly with Noel as the senior leaders of the whole church.<br />

Steve ‘Capable’s’ region <strong>in</strong>cluded London and the South East<br />

and he was responsible for Brighton, Hast<strong>in</strong>gs and the two<br />

households at Battlecentre. His new ‘sons’ were do<strong>in</strong>g well<br />

and Steve had targeted for a third London household <strong>in</strong> 1992.<br />

They’d been look<strong>in</strong>g for property for months but weren’t<br />

sure where God wanted them. Eventually Steve found a large<br />

detached house <strong>in</strong> Eal<strong>in</strong>g, a bit upmarket for the <strong>Jesus</strong> <strong>Army</strong>,<br />

but OK. The purchase was about to go through when Steve<br />

went for his usual prayer walk up his street. He suddenly<br />

noticed a FOR SALE notice at Number 13. NO CALLERS, it<br />

read. He knocked anyway.<br />

‘I see y<strong>our</strong> house is up for sale,’ said Steve.<br />

‘What!’ the man exclaimed. He rushed out and uprooted<br />

the sign. ‘I told them not to put one up!’<br />

‘Oh well, you might as well have a look around.’<br />

The house was tempt<strong>in</strong>g, but too small. If only they had the<br />

one next door — but that would take a miracle. Steve went<br />
