Thirty-three teachers earn National Board Certification
Thirty-three JCPS teachers recently received certification from the National Board for
Professional Teaching Standards, the highest credential in the teaching field.
Earning the certification is an intense and challenging process that requires 300 to 400
hours of work and often takes between one to three years to complete. The teachers must
demonstrate their ability to effectively manage and measure student learning, and they
must complete a two-part assessment process that tests the depth of their knowledge.
National Board representatives analyze the teachers’ portfolios, samples of their students’
work, and videotapes of their classrooms.
