For Jefferson County Public Schools, “Year Round” represents
an alternative schedule with instructional blocks and vacation
periods that are evenly distributed. Schools elect to structure
their respective calendars with 60 attendance days followed by a
15-day break or 45 attendance days followed by a 15-day break.
The required number of school attendance days remains the
same; the curriculum remains the same as required for all JCPS
schools and the same amount of academic instruction takes
place. School staffs vote to accept the alternative schedule in
order for it to be reviewed and approved by the Jefferson County
Board of Education.
