For over 30 years in the picturesque rural town of Tommarp, Sweden, Michael Sanden and his<br />
small team have been building the fine acoustics that have helped him solidify his reputation as one<br />
of the most creative and innovative luthiers of his generation.<br />
We asked Michael to consider a collaboration with <strong>Tanglewood</strong> Guitars that would allow us to bring<br />
his elegant designs and innovative craftsmanship to a larger market. The exquisite MasterDesign<br />
instruments are the result of that collaboration. A range of guitars built to precise Sanden<br />
blueprints and incorporating some of Michael’s most functional and stylistic handcrafted features,<br />
these instruments take production guitars to a new level.<br />
High-grade, solid Sitka spruce tops are paired with either solid rosewood or solid<br />
mahogany backs and sides. The instruments feature Michael’s trademark “paintbrush stroke”<br />
bridge, an unadorned headstock, a single stylized “T” inlay on the 12th fret of the fingerboard,<br />
and a zero fret. Each model is equipped with a B-Band A1.2 under-saddle transducer and active<br />
preamp, with a volume control tucked discreetly inside the soundhole. An SKB hardshell case is<br />
included with each guitar.<br />

Our Heritage Series celebrates the art of guitar<br />
craftsmanship. These handmade instruments are<br />
constructed entirely from solid woods, and each is<br />
characterized by an ebony fingerboard and bridge,<br />
a genuine bone nut and saddle, a reinforcing neck<br />
volute, and tasteful inlays.<br />
Each Heritage Series guitar is shipped in a deluxe<br />
hardshell wood case and includes a soundhole<br />

instruments aim to meet the market demand for simple,<br />
understated, 1940's-style solid-top guitars. Evoking plenty<br />
of traditional style, each guitar boasts a solid spruce top<br />
and mahogany back & sides, and features our parallel<br />
bridge pin system and a soft V neck profile.<br />

Through more than three decades of production, the<br />
Overwater name has become synonymous with the finest<br />
handcrafted bass guitars in the UK. Over the years, the<br />
instruments produced by Chris May and co. have only ever<br />
been available in relatively limited numbers, usually to<br />
players willing to wait for a custom build and able to afford<br />
the inevitable price of ‘one off’ production.<br />
But it has long been an aspiration of Chris’ to be able to<br />
offer a line of Overwater instruments at prices available to<br />
everyone while maintaining the standards that his company<br />
has always stood for – that is, without compromise in<br />
