Divine Mercy Sunday, celebr<strong>at</strong>ed <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> Octave of Easter (<strong>the</strong> Sunday<br />
after Ester Sunday), is a rel<strong>at</strong>ively new additi<strong>on</strong> to <strong>the</strong> Roman<br />
C<strong>at</strong>holic liturgical calendar. Celebr<strong>at</strong>ing <strong>the</strong> Divine Mercy of Jesus<br />
Christ, as revealed by Christ Himself to St. Maria Faustina Kowalska,<br />
this feast was extended to <strong>the</strong> entire C<strong>at</strong>holic Church by Pope<br />
John Paul II <strong>on</strong> April 30, 2000, <strong>the</strong> day th<strong>at</strong> he can<strong>on</strong>ized Saint<br />
Faustina.
