St. Vincent’s, we have counted on the community for nearly 100 years.
Men and women who first served as our hospital’s advisors in the early
1900s, all the way to our present day leadership, know that St. Vincent’s
provides safe, compassionate care above all else for our patients. Quality and
excellence for our community is expected! And at St. Vincent’s, that care also
extends to the poor and underserved.

Our Mission. Our Promise.
St. Vincent’s mission has always been to serve all persons, with special
attention to those who are poor and vulnerable. In addition to living
our mission, our physicians, nurses, volunteers, staff and my fellow
Board members also understand that it is St. Vincent’s mission—and
promise—to not just treat patients when they come to our hospitals,
but to also educate them, and their loved ones, on illness prevention,
health and wellness.
We know that prevention is the key to achieving a healthy
community and St. Vincent’s has long been at the forefront of dealing
with health issues facing adults and children. St. Vincent’s strong partnerships with
corporations, Foundations and donors like you enable our Community Health Outreach
Ministry to implement programs such as:
Way To Go Kids and Way to Go Families: providing access to health, wellness and
nutrition education to children and their parents in schools, apartment complexes,
community centers and after-school programs.
HealthTeacher: providing a health and wellness curriculum for school teachers in the
five-county area through our partnership with the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida
Foundation.
St. Vincent’s Brighter Beginnings: providing education on healthy pre- and post-natal
care to poor mothers in Northeast Florida.
St. Vincent’s believes that an investment in preventive health will empower our teachers, our
children, their parents and our community to make positive, lifelong changes that affect the
health of individuals and communities.

Managed by Brooks
Rehabilitation and opened in 2009,
this program meets the special
needs of joint replacement patients who are discharged after surgery but are not able to return
home. Patients learn how to acclimate back to their home environment.
St. Vincent’s orthopedic team has a passion for restoring patients back to full, happy, and
active lifestyles. Our surgeons know that as we age, mobility is the single most important
function of good health because it strengthens our muscles, heart, and lungs. Our orthopedic
team works hand-in-hand with each patient to help them regain mobility and alleviate their
pain, returning them to the life they love. St. Vincent’s orthopedic surgeons and the entire SNU
team have shown a dedication to quality and patient satisfaction that will continue to make
St. Vincent’s the number one choice for orthopedic care.

What is real leadership? For our
organization, it is the emergency room
physician who acts quickly and safely to
stabilize a critical patient; the nurse who senses
her patient isn’t doing well and acts on past
experience; the cook who takes extra care to
make the soup just right; the Board Chair who
volunteers time, and shares his wisdom and
energy for our mission; and the CEO who,
daily, lives our core value of dedication.
This month, Moody Chisholm,
President & CEO of St. Vincent’s HealthCare
was selected as an Ultimate CEO honoree by
the Jacksonville Business Journal. He was
nominated for his outstanding commitment to excellence, his
leadership role within St. Vincent’s and his unmatched contributions
to our community.
Since Moody arrived in Jacksonville as the new leader of
St. Vincent’s HealthCare in early April 2010, he has overseen the
health system’s incredible $80 million turnaround. He is
responsible for the strategic leadership and direction of
St. Vincent’s HealthCare, as well as quality and patient safety
initiatives in partnership with physicians; the delivery of
compassionate and comprehensive services, especially for those
who are poor and underserved; and the stewardship of resources
in order to ensure the continued achievement of St. Vincent’s
mission and vision.
During his tenure, Moody has: worked alongside physicians,
community leaders and St. Vincent’s Foundation to lead one of
Jacksonville’s largest current capital projects—a new hospital in
Clay County that will open in the fall of 2013. He has also helped
secure $3 million in low-income pool funding to implement a chronic
disease prevention program called Providing Access
To Healthcare (PATH); received the First Coast
Healthiest Companies Gold Award for Excellence in
Worksite Wellness from the Mayor’s Council on
Fitness and Well-Being; secured a Centennial
Celebration Gift from Rotary District 6970 for a
new mobile van for St. Vincent’s Mobile Health
Outreach Program; collaborated with CFO, Mark
Doyle, to continue St. Vincent’s commitment to
provide medical care to the underserved through the
launch of a new initiative called the Hospital
Outreach Patient Eligibility (HOPE) Program; and
so much more.
St. Vincent’s HealthCare is a stronger health
system because of the dedication, compassion and
business acumen of Moody Chisholm. St. Vincent’s
Foundation congratulates Moody on this Ultimate
CEO honor. Moody instills leadership qualities in all
of us that encourage us to provide our patients the
best and safest medical care.

St. Vincent’s Foundation has received a grant from the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, Federal Association, U.S.A. to
fund a reading program and three small libraries at St. Catherine Labouré Manor. Named The Order of Malta’s
Knightly News Reading Room—In Memory of Jack McCormack, this gift will bring the joy of books, stories, news and
current events to residents, visitors, volunteers and staff.
In September 2011, St. Vincent’s HealthCare and the Jacksonville Region of the Order of Malta lost a beloved member
of their family, John H. “Jack” McCormack. Jack perform amazing civic work throughout his life, including serving as
chairman of St. Vincent’s Medical Center Lay Advisory Board. But it was his quiet, personal volunteering that spoke to the
hearts of those who knew him. With a marvelous generosity of spirit, Jack took it upon himself to volunteer at St. Catherine
Labouré Manor where he hosted “News with Jack,” reading articles from the day’s newspaper to the residents. Going as
often as his schedule allowed, Jack would read out loud about current events, business news and world affairs. After he read
each article, he would encourage feedback from the residents, creating lively discussions and great camaraderie. Then, much
to the delight of his audience, Jack would end his session by reading everyone’s horoscopes, giving them all a good laugh.
When Jack had to retire from reading to residents,
he left a void at St. Catherine Labouré Manor.
St. Vincent’s Foundation, along with the Jacksonville
Region of the Order of Malta, wishes to continue his
legacy by creating a library and reading program in his
memory at St. Catherine Labouré Manor. The Order of
Malta Knightly News Reading Room—In Memory of
Jack McCormack will expand Jack’s ministry for the
sick, the poor and the elderly by generating an ongoing
volunteer schedule for reading to residents, as well as
creating three new libraries, complete with hundreds of
books as well as books-on-CD, in existing alcoves
located throughout St. Catherine Labouré Manor.

Marcia C. & Ricardo Morales, Jr. Infant Nursery
More than 150 friends, physicians and staff attended the May 24 blessing
and dedication for the Marcia C. & Ricardo Morales, Jr. Infant Nursery
in The Family Birth Place at St. Vincent’s Medical Center Riverside. Knowing
that nothing is more important than family, Dick and Marcia Morales made
the lead gift for this new nursery that reflects an atmosphere of welcome and
appreciation for each new life that enters our world.

Located on the fourth floor of The Family Birth Place, the nursery is
complete with state-of-the-art technology to match St. Vincent’s expertly
qualified medical staff of neonatologists, pediatricians, nurses and medical
technicians. The Marcia C. & Ricardo Morales, Jr. Infant Nursery is focused
on providing a continuum of safe care for our tiniest patients while comforting
mothers, fathers and loved ones.

St. Vincent’s Summer Fun & Wellness Festival
On June 2, St. Vincent’s HealthCare, Jacksonville Farmers Market and Beaver Street Fisheries hosted the first
St. Vincent’s Summer Fun & Wellness Festival at the Farmers Market. This community-wide event attracted 10,000
people and promoted healthy eating, illness prevention, nutrition education and wellness. The Festival also promoted the
availability, accessibility, and nutritional benefits of fresh fruits and vegetables sold at the Jacksonville Farmers Market
every day.
Not having access to healthy eating choices can lead to obesity, diabetes and heart disease. Knowing that these
conditions are on the rise, St. Vincent’s used the Summer Fun & Wellness Festival to help address this health crisis. It is a
part of St. Vincent’s mission to reach out to the community, as we have been doing for many years through our
Community Health Outreach Programs, diabetes education classes,
HealthTeacher, Way To Go Kids and Way To Go Families.
The Summer Fun & Wellness Festival lived up to its name by offering fun
activities that included a bounce house, story time, Clifford the Big Red Dog,
clowns and face painting for children. Live entertainment and cooking
demonstrations from local chefs were offered throughout the day. Chef
Jonathon Smith from St. Vincent’s Riverside and Chef Ed Gregorio from
St. Vincent’s Southside were among the local chefs who provided cooking
demonstrations and, best of all, samples! St. Vincent’s Mobile Health Outreach
Program also provided free health screenings.

Daily’s THE TRADITION, 2012
Raises $345,000 for St. Vincent’s Mobile
Health Outreach Ministry
St. Vincent’s HealthCare Foundation’s fourth annual charity golf
tournament, Daily’s THE TRADITION, was another wonderful success!
Golfers enjoyed playing on both THE PLAYERS Stadium and Dye’s Valley
courses at TPC Sawgrass.
More than $345,000 was raised to support St. Vincent’s Mobile Health
Outreach Ministry. This Community Outreach Program brings St. Vincent’s
physicians and nurses to isolated and underserved areas throughout Northeast
Florida. Adults and children in these communities are given acute and
preventive care, such as immunizations, health screenings, physicals, wound
care, laboratory and diagnostic testing, referrals for specialty care, and more.
In some communities, our Mobile Health Ministry is the only consistent
healthcare treatment these residents receive. On Monday evening, former PGA
TOUR Pro and current Champions Tour golfer Mark McCumber entertained
dinner guests with stories of life on the Tour. The night was complete with
both silent and live auctions, emceed by Dan Hicken, First Coast News
sportscaster. Tuesday evening, guests listened to Stephen Kupcha, Senior
Manager, Public Relations, Military/Community Outreach for the PGA
TOUR, speak about his time as a Navy SEAL and his current work for the
PGA TOUR and Birdies for the Brave.
St. Vincent’s Foundation sends a heartfelt thank you to all who made this
event such a success, especially to this year’s Chairman, Aubrey Edge, and
Co-Chairman Mark Doyle, and their committee!

De Paul Society Reception

A Foundation of Care
On May 15, Laura and Billy Howell hosted a beautiful
reception in their home for De Paul Society members and
their guests. The De Paul Society is St. Vincent’s Foundation’s
annual giving club which supports essential healthcare
programs and services at St. Vincent’s Medical Center
Riverside, St. Vincent’s Medical Center Southside and
St. Catherine Labouré Manor. There are hundreds of
examples of how support from the De Paul Society makes a
difference in our community, but here are just a few examples
how these gifts have gone Above and Beyond in 2011:
Kept children in school by providing more than 3,900
free school and sports physicals, as well as more than
2,320 immunizations on St. Vincent’s Mobile Health
Outreach Ministry clinics
Brought comfort to more than 800 newly diagnosed
cancer patients through support of St. Vincent’s
Cancer Patient Navigator—a compassionate caregiver
who helps patients and their families with clinical,
emotional, spiritual, and financial guidance during one
of the most emotionally traumatic periods of their lives
Changed the lives of more than 180 uninsured diabetes
patients in Duval and surrounding counties through
education and support programs that enable
these patients to learn behaviors and manage
their disease

ST. VINCENT’S SHIRCLIFF SOCIETY GIVES BACK
St. Vincent’s Shircliff Society is a young professionals organization launched in 2011 by
St. Vincent’s Foundation. It inspires young leaders to improve the health of individuals and
communities through philanthropy and volunteerism.
On March 14, members gathered in the C. Herman and Mary Virginia Terry Conference
Center at St. Vincent’s Riverside for “Cocktails & Connections.” Here, they had the
opportunity to network with, and listen to, five of Jacksonville’s top executives as they
shared their career experiences and wisdom. Thank you to the following speakers who

Lou Walsh: Senior Vice President of Investments at UBS
On May 3, Shircliff Society members met at Intuition Ale Works for “Brews for Books,”
to collect books for the Early Childhood Literacy Intervention Program at St. Vincent’s
Family Medicine Center. Thanks to the Intuition Ale Works staff who continued to
collect books on behalf of St. Vincent’s through the month of May! They collected more
than 150 children’s books and raised more than $250 for St. Vincent’s literacy program.
Members also volunteered at St. Vincent’s Summer Fun & Wellness Festival at the
Jacksonville Farmers Market on June 2. They enthusiastically helped with set-up, worked
at the Kids Korner, and helped at St. Vincent’s Food Pantry table collecting fresh fruits and
vegetables from generous attendees and vendors, to be distributed to the poor and underserved
residents who come to the Food Pantry.
The Shircliff Society members and guests gathered at Pele’s Wood Fire for “Party for the Pantry”
on July 11. These young professionals not only networked with each other and with
St. Vincent’s board members, but also donated more than 110 food items for St. Vincent’s Food
Pantry. Thank you to Pele’s Wood Fire for hosting!
After the success of “Cocktails & Connections” in March, Shircliff Society members held a
“speed networking” event at Aloft Hotel at Tapestry Park on August 2. This event gave
members and guests the opportunity to talk in small groups with more of Jacksonville’s
executive and government leaders. Thank you to the speakers who kindly spent their evening
