Sending and Receiving Records
3. Type at least the Þrst letter of the patientÕs last name (see ÒHow
PYRAMIS Searches Using the PatientÕs NameÓ).
4. Press the Left Arrow key to return to GET ECG VIA ID.
5. Select GET ECG LIST to view a list of all the records stored on
PYRAMIS with that ID.
6. When the list has downloaded, highlight each record that you
want to receive and press enter to select the record. The word,
ÒSELECTÓ appears on the right side of the display.
7. Press the Left Arrow key to return to GET ECG VIA ID.
8. Select GET ECG(S) to begin receiving all the selected records.
HOW PYRAMIS SEARCHES USING THE PATIENTÕS NAME
PYRAMIS can search using just the Last Name Þeld. All the Þles with the
entered last name are retrieved. If there are no Þles with exactly the same last
name, then PYRAMIS locates all the Þles with last names that are similar to the
one entered.
When you search using First Name in addition to the Last Name Þeld,
PYRAMIS searches for Þles with a Þrst name that matches exactly. First,
PYRAMIS searches for an exactly matching last name. If no exact matches are
found, PYRAMIS searches for similar last names. Once a last name is found,
either matching or similar, PYRAMIS displays only the records in which the
Þrst name matches exactly.
For example:
The database has 4 records:
Stork, Blanche
Smythe, John
Smythe, Blanche
Smith, Blanche
Search for:
Last Name:
Smi
First Name:
Blanche
PYRAMIS displays 2 records in the List of Patients window:
Smythe, Blanche
Smith, Blanche
No exact match was found for the last name so all names similar to ÒSmiÓ were
located. Of these, only Þles with an exactly matching Þrst name were
displayed.
