Patient Preparation<br />

Preparing Patients for Exercise Stress Testing<br />

Apply electrodes and lead wires before entering patient data into the Eclipse.<br />

This allows time for the electrodes to adhere and improves conductivity.<br />

1. Place limb leads where movement is not a factor (see Figure<br />

5-7).<br />

2. Vigorous skin preparation is essential for preventing artifact<br />

during exercise stress testing:<br />

4 Shave all hair from sensor sites<br />

4 Cleanse sensor sites with alcohol<br />

4 Use a Skin Rasp. Applying moderate pressure, stroke the<br />

skin 2 or 3 times at each site with the rough side of the rasp.<br />

3. As you apply sensors, press down on the outside foam area Þrst<br />

to avoid squeezing the gel out.<br />

4. After applying the sensors, follow the instructions on page 5-6,<br />

ÒConnecting Cables and Lead WiresÓ.<br />
