Kittiya Vandiya-Mahiyä,<br />

Je a Logassa Uttamä Siddhä;<br />

Ärugga-bohiläbham,<br />

Samähivar-muttamam Dintu. 6<br />

Chandesu Nimmalayarä,<br />

Äichchesu Ahiyam Payä-sayarä;<br />

Sägar Var Gambhirä,<br />

Siddhä Siddhim Mam Disantu. 7<br />

Going Back to the Path of Purification<br />

souls in the universe. Grant me divine health and<br />

knowledge and the highest state consciousness.<br />

You are infinitely purer than the moon and<br />

infinitely brilliant than the sun. You are infinitely<br />

calmer than the oceans. My God, please lead me<br />

to the perfection, Moksha.<br />

Lesson 4 - Inspection of Muhapatti<br />

(By reciting the following short Sutra, the aspirant pays homage to the preceptor by first standing<br />

with his/her Charavalä in his/her folded hands and then by kneeling down having his/her feet,<br />

knees, elbows, forehead and folded hands touching the floor.)<br />

Khamäsamanä Sutra (Homage to the Preceptor):<br />

Original Sutra<br />

Ichchämi Khamäsamano,<br />

Vandium Jävanijjäe;<br />

Niseehiäe,<br />

Matthaena Vandämi.<br />

Meaning<br />

Oh! Forgiving Gurudev, I am giving up all my<br />

wrongful acts with all my strength and bow down<br />

to you with my head near to your feet.<br />

(Now, the aspirant sits down)<br />

(Every religious activity is supposed to be undertaken with the appropriate permission. Therefore,<br />

now the aspirant first seeks permission to inspect Muhapatti)<br />

Original Sutra<br />

Ichchäkäen Sandisah Bhagavan ! Sämäyik<br />

Muhapatti Padilenhu ? (padilehah) Ichchham .<br />

Meaning<br />

Oh! Forgiving Gurudev, May I have your kind<br />

permission to inspect the Muhapatti ? (Yes you<br />

may). Your wish is my wish.<br />

(Now, the aspirant inspects his/her Muhapatti while reciting 50 sayings (bol) internally (women are<br />

limited to recite only 40 bol): [This is for the purpose of remaining totally vigilant in observance of<br />

non-violence, and purifying the soul] For Details see Appendix A, Page 51<br />

Lesson-5 Concluding the vows of Sämäyik (Sämäiyavaijutto)<br />

(By reciting the following short Sutra, the aspirant pays homage to the preceptor by first standing<br />

with his/her Charavalä in his/her folded hands and then by kneeling down having his/her feet,<br />

Meaning<br />

Oh! Forgiving Gurudev, I am giving up all my<br />

Oh! Forgiving Gurudev, May I have your kind<br />

permission to conclude the Sämäyik? (One should<br />

Sämäyik as often as he/she can). I will definitely<br />
