MULTI-CIRCUIT POWER
How do you know when you need
multi-circuit power?
Clara
• Need to power up long runs of workstations
(up to 8 persons)
• Have an open plan environment where single duplex
receptacles won't be enough to service an entire
room full of people
• If you want to load up on heaters, curling irons,
and double monitors
• Have an electrician wiring your building with infeeds
• Need more than one circuit for power. Our system
is an 8-wire, 4-circuit system, approved for 16 amps,
for a total of 64 amps per infeed
See page 52 for examples of multi-circuit applications
SPECIFY THE INFEED
Determine the source of the building power –
floor, wall, or ceiling. (hint: ask the electrician)
One infeed will service up to 8 users.
The infeed brings power in from the building
source to a Clara table by plugging directly into
a surfbag or surfboard.
Infeed types:
Infeed
Brings power in from floor, wall, columns.
NYC infeed
Approved infeed for New York City to bring power
in from the floor or wall
Ceiling infeed
Brings power in from the ceiling. Needs to be used
with a ceiling feed channel.
izzy does not provide ceiling feed channels,
but recommend the following options:
2 ADD SURFBAGS OR SURFBOARDS
Connects to the building infeed and starts the
distribution of power. Mounts under the Clara
tables into pre-drilled holes. If power is traveling
to multiple workstations, the surfbag/board
MUST gang the tables together.
Note: According to UL standards, each worksurface must
be fastened (via Surfboard/bag) to another worksurface,
back-to-back, or side-to-side for power to route. Otherwise,
each pack of workstations requires an infeed, even if there
are less than 8 people per pack.
3 ADD WHIPS
Measure the distance between the surfbags/
surfboards to determine what size whip is needed
to connect them together
Whips
Conduit to carry power from table to table.
Standard in silver. Various sizes available.
Surfbag
Comes standard with a surfboard that contains
two duplex receptacles and carries power from
table to table. Ends of the surfboard connect to
various sized whips. Two whips can plug into
each side of the surfbag to carry power to multiple
tables, in multiple directions. Users access power
from duplex receptacles under Velcro ® secured
opening of the PCM bag.
Surfboard
For a lower cost solution to the surfbag, you can
order just the surfboard portion of the product. It
comes without the bag and receptacles. All the
utility is still there, giving a place to plug in whips
to keep the power moving throughout the space.
You can always add a PCM bag, receptacles, and
cable keepers to retrofit for additional privacy,
cable management, or power requirements.
