May represent a species complex.<br />

Squalus blainvillei? (Risso, 1826). Longnose spurdog<br />

Nominally from the Eastern Atlantic and the Mediterranean, but not well defined due to<br />

confusion with other species and taxonomic issues. FAO Areas 27, 34, 37, 47, 51(?), 61(?),<br />

81(?). Shelf and upper slope. 16->440m. Considerable taxonomic issues (records from<br />

elsewhere in the Atlantic and the Indo-Pacific based in part on S. mitsukurii or close<br />

relatives).<br />
