EarlySense's technology is based on advanced signal-processing algorithms developed and refined over
years of extensive in-vivo testing. The patented systems include ultra-sensitive components that monitor
patients without direct contact or the need for patient compliance. The algorithms enable clinically accurate
tracking and measurement of respiration and heart rates, as well as patient movement, including bed
entry/exit and patient turn verification as indicated by a nurse interface.
Automatic System Operation
EarlySense’s technology has three main components: 1) a unique single plate sensing unit; 2) a bedside unit
that processes and displays the measured data; and 3) a central station display that enables complete
coverage of a unit wide set of monitors at a single point and enables an interface to the nurses’ mobile
devices. Once placed under a bed mattress, the sensing unit immediately self-activates whenever the patient
is in bed. The continuously filtered, sampled and analyzed data can be stored, and if desired can be printed
for documentation and clinician analysis. The system is FDA and CE cleared and has been shown to improve
clinical outcomes in general care units.
