DM36 Development within
Town Centre boundaries
GLA request reference to
promoting vibrant and
attractive town and local
centres, in line with London
Plan policies 3D.1, 3D.2 and
3D.3 and DRLP 2.15
Police request amendment to
Para 7.0.19 to include policing
facilities.
Include additional point to Part
C of DM36 ‘promote vibrant
and attractive town centres’ to
make this more explicit.
In the last sentence of para
7.0.19 add the following: ‘such
as policing facilities’ after
‘advice centres’
DM 37 - Primary frontages
&
DM 38 - Secondary frontages
Support for policy to
discourage shops reverting to
residential use.
Metropolitan Police state that
policing facilities should be
considered acceptable within
frontages.
No action required
Policies relating to frontages
and local shopping areas give
a degree of flexibility for
non-A1 uses appropriate to the
role of the frontage or shopping
area.
DM 40 - Individual (Local)
Shops
A comment was received
stating that local shopping
parades should be extended
on Hornsey Road.
A comment was received
stating that, where retail
changes to residential, the
standard of accommodation
should be high,
Local Shopping Parade 24 (23
in Submission version) has
been extended.
The Submission version of the
policy requires a high standard
of residential accommodation
in all cases and specifically
refers to this in reference to
conversions from retail to
residential, where this would
be an appropriate change of
use.
DM 41 - Shop fronts
Some objections to restrictions
on signage design and
requirement for active
frontages.
Upper Street Association
supported restriction of
internally-illuminated box signs,
particularly in relation to
heritage assets.
The Submission version of this
policy is more flexibly worded
with regards to window
displays/active frontages. The
objections and support to the
restrictions are both noted.
