CAUTION<br />

When the Stop button is pressed, solvent remains in the tubing<br />

from the injection valve to the detector’s flow cell. Follow the steps<br />

listed below, according to your instrument’s configuration.<br />

• Solid Sample Cartridge and air purge is enabled:<br />

If you suspend the run with the Stop button, do not remove<br />

the column and/or solid sample cartridge without first<br />

pressing the Fast Forward button to purge solvents from all<br />

lines. If you stop the run because your peak of interest has<br />

been collected, protect the next user from being sprayed by<br />

solvents left in the lines by pressing Fast Forward so the<br />

instrument purges itself and is safe for its next use.<br />

• Solid Sample Cartridge and air purge is NOT enabled,<br />

i.e. purge time set to zero in Method Editor:<br />

If you suspend the run with the Stop button, remove the<br />

column and install the Prime Tube in place of the column.<br />

<strong>Manual</strong>ly purge the Sample Cartridge by pressing Tools -><br />

<strong>Manual</strong> Control -> Air Purge Cartridge. Repeat this<br />

procedure for Air Purge Column.<br />

• Liquid sample is loaded onto column and air purge is<br />

enabled:<br />

If you suspend the run with the Stop button, remove the<br />

column and install the Prime Tube in its place. Press Fast<br />

Forward to purge all liquid lines.<br />

• Liquid sample loaded onto column with air purge NOT<br />

enabled:<br />

If you suspend the run with the Stop button, remove the<br />

column and install the Prime Tube in its place. <strong>Manual</strong>ly<br />

purge the liquid lines by pressing Tools -> <strong>Manual</strong> Control<br />

-> Air Purge Column.<br />

• Next Tube — This button advances the fraction<br />

collector/fractionation valve to the next tube position.<br />

This allows you to conveniently collect eluate of interest<br />

in a new tube.<br />
