Section 4 Maintenance and Special Features<br />
4.1 Replacing the<br />
Needle Assembly<br />
It is possible to replace the needle assembly in the field, if that<br />
should become necessary. Before attempting this, please<br />
read the following warning:<br />
WARNING<br />
Disconnect power completely before attempting needle<br />
replacement. The needle drive mechanism will cause<br />
serious injury to your hand if the sampler starts while you<br />
are working on it.<br />
1. Note that the tower housing consists of two pieces that fit<br />
together like a clam shell. Remove the front half of the<br />
tower housing. The two sections of the tower housing fit<br />
together inside an H-shaped molding. There are four<br />
thumbscrews that hold the front on. You should be able to<br />
see the needle assembly clearly after removing the housing.<br />
