3.1.2 Preparation of Tubing<br />

and Connectors<br />

The tubing used for the sample delivery line is terminated with<br />

specially-designed connectors in an optimized system that is both<br />

leak-tight and easy to install.<br />

Normally there is no need to disassemble the tubing fittings. In<br />

fact, it is better to avoid disassembly, as it increases the risk of<br />

loss of small internal parts, or of incorrect reassembly. In actual<br />

practice, it is only necessary to groove the tubing with the scoring<br />

tool, insert the tubing into the fitting after loosening the blue<br />

end, and then re-tighten to secure the tubing. Make sure the<br />

tubing bottoms out in the fitting. Tighten the fitting nut only to<br />

the point where the nut just stops at the ridge of the fitting<br />

body. Do not overtighten; the fittings are Teflon ® and the<br />

threads will be destroyed!<br />
