Section 9 Modifier Addition<br />

8. When A pressure is established, the message “HOLD:<br />

PRESS RUN” will be displayed.<br />

9. Open the extractor inlet valves.<br />

10. The message “EQUILIBRATE” will be displayed on the<br />

controller screen. If the controller does not display<br />

“EQUILIBRATE,” press the RUN key. While this message<br />

is displayed, no modifier will be delivered.<br />

11. Immediately open the extractant outlet valve(s).<br />

Note<br />

Flow MUST be established through the system at or before the<br />

time “EQUILIBRATE” is displayed. To properly equilibrate the<br />

pumps, they must be delivering fluid.<br />

12. Once the message “Running” is displayed, modifier will be<br />

delivered at the selected rate.<br />

To refill pump B (the<br />

modifier pump)<br />

1. Press the STOP key.<br />

2. Close the outlet valves of both pumps.<br />

3. Take the pumps out of modifier mode by pressing softkey B<br />

under the words “MODIFIER”. The word ON will change<br />

to OFF above the modifier.<br />

4. Open the inlet valve of pump B.<br />

5. Press the REFILL key, and press softkey B to designate<br />

Pump B.<br />

6. After pump B has filled, press the CONST FLOW key and<br />

set the desired purging flow rate. Press the RUN key and<br />

deliver 5-10 ml of modifier back through the inlet valve.<br />

This ensures that all air is purged from the pump.<br />

7. Press the red STOP key on the controller front panel keypad.<br />

Then press softkey B.<br />

To start modifier 1. Return to constant pressure mode by pressing softkey D,<br />

“SELECT PUMP,” and then softkey A.<br />

2. Place the pump in modifier mode by pressing softkey B<br />

under the words “MODIFIER.” The word OFF will change<br />

to ON above “MODIFIER.”<br />

3. Open the outlet valves of both pumps if they are not open.<br />

4. Press the RUN key on the controller front panel keypad.<br />

5. When A pressure is established, the message “HOLD:<br />

PRESS RUN” will be displayed.<br />

6. Open the extractor inlet valves.<br />

7. The message “EQUILIBRATE” will be displayed on the<br />

controller screen. If the controller does not display<br />

“EQUILIBRATE,” press the RUN key. While this message<br />

is displayed, no modifier will be delivered.<br />

8. Immediately open the extractant outlet valve(s).<br />
