5.8 Shear Key<br />

Replacement<br />

Table 5-1 below provides part numbers for each pump model<br />

replacement shear key.<br />

1. Place the pump on its side and remove the four panhead<br />

screws, that attach the access plate to the case bottom, as<br />

shown in Figure 5-3.<br />

2. Remove the cotter pin that passes through the castle nut<br />

and ball screw.<br />

3. Use a 3 4" wrench to remove the castle nut, shown below.<br />

4. Remove the spacer.<br />

5. The two broken halves of the shear key should be protruding<br />

from the brass worm gear and the ball screw.<br />

Note<br />

The 65DM pump has a bearing set not included in the other<br />

pumps. In addition to following the other steps in this section,<br />

when performing shear key replacement on a 65DM pump,<br />

ensure that the bearing set is properly reinstalled, as<br />

described in Section 5.8.3.<br />
