Battery Replacement<br />
Batteries that have been subjected to deep discharge (commonly<br />
referred to as over discharge) will have a reduced capacity over<br />
time. Charging should be performed before a state of deep discharge<br />
is reached.<br />
Deep discharged batteries can be discharged 1.5 to 2.0 times<br />
more than the rated capacity. Consequently, deep discharged batteries<br />
require a longer charging period than normal, with an<br />
initial charging current being very low over approximately the<br />
first 30 minutes of charging. During this period, the green LED<br />
could go out, giving an erroneous indication of a full charge.<br />
Because of this possibility, allow batteries a full 30 minutes on<br />
the charger before checking for a full charge indicated by the<br />
green LED going out.<br />
Batteries should be replaced according to the instructions below.<br />
The batteries should be replaced with:<br />
• two new 8 volt lead-acid battery packs<br />
(P/N 68-2000-023).<br />

To install the lead-acid SLA2191EX battery packs:<br />
1. Remove the battery door. To remove the door, turn it 1 /4 turn<br />
counter-clockwise and pull it from the Battery <strong>Module</strong>.<br />
2. Align the connectors and insert the new battery pack into<br />
the Battery <strong>Module</strong>.<br />
3. Check the humidity indicator disk inside the door. (See section<br />
5.4.2.)<br />
