Section 2 Preparation and Installation<br />
WARNING<br />
The RS485EX cable maximum Um = 16.6V. If the RS232<br />
cable is used to connect a laptop computer to the Field<br />
Wizard or other <strong>Isco</strong> network device, NEVER use mains<br />
power to power the laptop; use battery power only.<br />
Note<br />
You can safely connect and disconnect the RS485EX cable<br />
from the EX Network cable without removing the <strong>2150EX</strong> module<br />
from the potentially explosive atmosphere.<br />
2.6.4 RS232 Communication<br />
Cable<br />
In a permanent installation, the 2194EX serves as the network<br />
communication isolator, with RS232 or RS485 communication<br />
via the top connector.<br />

The 9-pin connector of <strong>Isco</strong>’s RS232 communication cable<br />
(60-2004-046) connects to a computer’s serial port, and the<br />
push-on end connects to the top of the 2194EX.<br />
