upgraded with the “Update <strong>Software</strong>” application (opened<br />

separately from <strong>Flowlink</strong>) if a newer software release is<br />

available.<br />

The “Identify” button can help you locate a particular module<br />

when the connected site is made up of several modules. To<br />

identify the module, highlight the Module Name, then click on<br />

the Identify button. The Module will turn on its front-panel light<br />

so that you can identify which module at the site corresponds<br />

with the highlighted Module Name.<br />

Press the “Configure Like Another” button to configure the<br />

current module so it has the same settings as another module.<br />

After pressing the button, you will be prompted to select a<br />

module from the Select A Module dialog box. Select the<br />

appropriate module and click OK.<br />

Connection Information Box - Displays the settings used to<br />

communicate with the instrument. When off-line you can modify:<br />

• Type - Direct, Modem, or Wireless. Select the Direct<br />

option when connecting to the instrument with a<br />

communication cable attached to your computer’s serial<br />

port. Select the Modem option to connect to the<br />

instrument through a telephone modem. Select Wireless<br />

when using 2102 Wireless Communication Modules.<br />

• COM port - (Direct and Wireless) Select the appropriate<br />

COM port setting from the pull-down menu. Refer to<br />

your computer’s documentation for more information on<br />

COM ports.<br />

• Baud Rate - (Direct and Wireless) Select the baud rate<br />

from the pull-down menu. Select 38400 when direct<br />

connecting to 2100 instruments, 19200 for wireless<br />

communication.<br />

• Modem - (Modem Modules only) Select an installed<br />

modem from the pull-down list. <strong>Flowlink</strong> will only list<br />

those modems installed in Windows. <strong>Flowlink</strong> will use<br />

the selected Modem and its Windows settings (COM port,<br />

baud, etc.) to make the connection. If you need to change<br />

the modem settings, open the Modem Control Panel<br />

(Windows Start>Settings>Control Panel>Phone and<br />

Modem Options). A baud rate of 38400 is recommended<br />

for 2100 instruments.<br />

• Select Default from the list to use the modem<br />

specified in Utilities>Options for the appropriate<br />

device type. This automatically selects the modem<br />

used for a specific site, from any computer.<br />

• Phone number - (Modem Modules only) Enter the<br />

phone number assigned to the instrument. This number<br />

can include the following commands:<br />

T (tone dial)<br />

, (comma - pause)<br />

@ (wait for silence)<br />
