Schedules<br />
This feature allows you to accomplish a variety of tasks without<br />
being present at the computer. Schedules can automatically<br />
interrogate remote instruments, print graphs or tables, update<br />
documents in your word processing application, etc. Schedules let<br />
you control the workflow and save both time and money. For<br />
example, you can interrogate instruments at night or on<br />
weekends when telephone rates are cheaper, or send print jobs to<br />
network printers when the demand is lower.<br />
For any <strong>Flowlink</strong> scheduled operation to occur, the Wakeup<br />
Monitor must be configured and running. Wakeup Monitor is a<br />
separate application from <strong>Flowlink</strong>, giving you the ability to close<br />
<strong>Flowlink</strong>, but still run the schedules.<br />
Schedules are set up using the Schedule Time and New Task<br />
windows.<br />
Tips -<br />
• Before setting up scheduled interrogations, connect with<br />
each instrument and ensure that the Site Setup is<br />
correct. This also ensures the communications settings<br />
are correct for the instrument.<br />
• Create any needed Graph or Table files beforehand. The<br />
graphs or tables should use a relative starting time and<br />
date for best results.<br />
Wakeup Monitor<br />
The Wakeup Monitor application must be configured and<br />
running in order for scheduled operations to occur. See Wakeup<br />
Monitor online Help for complete information.<br />
To configure Wakeup Monitor:<br />
1. Start the Wakeup Monitor application by clicking the<br />
icon on your desktop or by slecting Start><strong>Flowlink</strong><br />
<strong>5.1</strong>>Wakeup Monitor. An alarm clock icon will appear in<br />
the Windows task bar.<br />
2. Right-click the alarm clock icon and select Configure<br />
Scheduler Service.<br />
3. On the Databases tab, click Add and use the Open<br />
Database window to select the database(s) you wish to<br />
perform scheduled tasks.<br />
4. Use the Service tab to start and stop the scheduler<br />
service. Check the box under Configuration if you want<br />
the service to start automatically with system startup.<br />
Under Printing Options, select and configure the printer<br />
for any scheduled printing tasks.<br />
